Fits Samsung Gear S2 Classic smartwatch models SM-R720 and SM-R732, replacing OEM battery EB-BR720ABE.
This 3.7V, 250mAh lithium-polymer cell powers the display, processor, and wireless connectivity on your Gear S2 Classic.
Connector slides into the battery slot with a single mechanical latch; orientation is keyed and accepts no force.
We bench-tested this pack in an SM-R720 unit — the fuel gauge IC accepted the new cell after a full charge cycle from power-off.
After fitting the new cell, place the watch on its charger immediately and charge to 100% before wearing — the fuel gauge cannot calibrate without a full charge cycle from near-zero after a cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Samsung Gear S2 Classic — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (EB-BR720ABE)

This is a 3.7V, 250mAh lithium-polymer cell for the Samsung Gear S2 Classic smartwatch. It fits SM-R720 and SM-R732 variants and the standard Gear S2. The EB-BR720ABE is the OEM part number this cell replaces.

  • SM-R720 and SM-R732 compatibility: Both watch variants run the same power rail and use the same connector pinout and BMS handshake. A single cell covers both SKUs without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on SM-R720 hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the fuel gauge IC reported capacity correctly after a full charge cycle from near-zero.
  • Fuel gauge calibration after swap: After fitting the new cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and charge to 100% before first use. The fuel gauge IC on the Gear S2 platform loses its reference point when the original cell is removed — without a full charge cycle from near-zero, the gauge will misread state of charge and may show incorrect percentages throughout the day.

Why the Gear S2 drains a new cell faster than the old one in the first week

A fresh lithium-polymer cell has a different impedance profile than a degraded one. The Gear S2 power management IC adjusts draw thresholds based on learned cell behaviour, and that learning resets when you swap cells. For the first several charge cycles, the watch may draw at patterns that look aggressive against the new cell's impedance. This normalises after five to seven full cycles — no firmware change or setting adjustment is needed.

Watch not pairing to phone after battery replacement

Removing the battery terminates the active BLE session between the Gear S2 and the paired phone. The watch does not re-establish this automatically on power-up. Open the Galaxy Wearable app on the paired phone, go to the watch settings, and select Disconnect and Reset, then re-pair. The watch address does not change, so you do not need to delete the Bluetooth device from your phone first.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Gear S2 Classic shows 0% and won't turn on right after I put the new battery in — did I get a dead cell?

The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the Gear S2 loses its charge reference the moment the original cell is disconnected, so it reads zero until it completes a calibration cycle. Place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and let it charge uninterrupted to 100%. After that first full cycle from near-zero, the gauge will read correctly.

The charge contacts on the magnetic charger don't seem to be connecting after I reassembled the watch — the charging screen never appears.

The magnetic pogo-pin contacts on the Gear S2 back plate can shift slightly out of alignment during reassembly. Remove the back cover, reseat it, and apply even pressure around the full circumference before securing it. Then place the watch on the charger and confirm the charging indicator appears within ten seconds — if it does not, lift and reposition the watch on the charger pad to correct any rotational offset.

The battery drains completely overnight when always-on display and continuous heart rate monitoring are both active — is that normal for a 250mAh cell?

At 250mAh, the Gear S2 cell has limited reserve when always-on display and continuous HR polling run simultaneously. Always-on display alone can account for a significant share of daily draw on this cell size, and continuous HR monitoring adds a sustained sensor current on top. Turn continuous HR monitoring to the interval setting rather than continuous in the Samsung Health app, and disable always-on display — these two changes have the largest measurable impact on daily draw for this cell capacity.
