Fits Gardena 124562 lawn mower; replaces OEM part numbers 574 47 68-01, 505 69 73-20, 574 47 68-02, 574 47 68-03, 586 57 62-01.
18V, 1500mAh capacity delivers consistent blade torque across residential mowing without mid-cut power sag.
Slide-lock connector seats flush into Gardena's battery bay with positive engagement tab — no wobble.
We bench-tested this cell with the mower under heavy grass load; BMS held stable, no cutoff drift.
Before first spring use, bring the pack indoors overnight if temperatures are below 10°C — cold Li-ion raises inrush current and can trigger blade motor BMS cutoff on thick grass.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gardena R38Li / R50Li / R75Li Series — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery (574 47 68-01)

This 18V, 1500mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original pack on Gardena robotic and cordless lawn mowers including the 124562, R38Li, R50Li, and R75Li. It matches the OEM voltage rail, connector, and BMS handshake required by these models. Capacity is 27Wh — the same as the stock unit it replaces.

  • R-series mower compatibility: The R38Li, R50Li, R75Li, and 124562 all share the same 18V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. This pack communicates correctly with the mower's charge controller — no fault codes on insertion.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge and discharge cycles on an R50Li mower platform. The BMS responded correctly to motor-start inrush, held voltage above the low-cell cutoff threshold, and accepted a full recharge without fault flags.
  • First spring use — cold-cell precaution: If your mower has been stored through winter, bring the battery indoors overnight before the first cut. Below 10°C, Li-ion internal resistance rises sharply and the blade motor's inrush current can trip the BMS on a cold pack — leaving the mower dead at the start of the row.

BMS cutoff on thick-grass and wet-grass blade load

The R-series blade motor draws significantly more current through dense or damp grass than on a dry, short lawn. If the pack's BMS detects that current has spiked beyond the safe cell discharge threshold, it cuts power to protect the cells. This shows up as a sudden stop mid-row with no warning light. Let the mower sit for two to three minutes — the BMS will reset once current demand drops to zero — then resume on a lighter grass pass.

Charger refusing to accept the pack after winter storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly in storage. A pack left in a cold garage from autumn to spring can drop below the charger's minimum acceptance voltage — typically around 12V for an 18V pack — and the charger will show a fault or simply do nothing. Place the battery in a warm room (18–22°C) for several hours before trying the charger again. If the charger still won't engage, check cell voltage with a multimeter at the pack terminals; anything above 10V should recover with a brief trickle charge or a compatible recovery-mode charger.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Gardena mower stops dead halfway through a wet patch of grass — why does it keep cutting out?

Wet grass increases blade drag and spikes the motor's current draw. When that current exceeds the BMS protection threshold, the pack shuts off instantly to prevent cell damage. Let the mower sit for two to three minutes so the BMS resets, then continue on a drier or shorter section of lawn. If it trips repeatedly, mow in two passes to reduce blade load on heavy growth.

The charger light just flashes or shows a fault when I put this battery on after it's been sitting all winter — is the pack dead?

Not necessarily. After months of storage, cell voltage can fall below the charger's minimum acceptance threshold and the charger refuses to start a normal charge cycle. Bring the battery indoors and leave it at room temperature (18–22°C) for three to four hours, then retry the charger. If it still won't accept the pack, check the terminal voltage with a multimeter — anything above 10V at the pack terminals is recoverable.

The new battery runs noticeably warmer than the old one during the first few cuts — is something wrong?

New Li-ion cells run slightly warmer for the first four to five charge and discharge cycles while the chemistry stabilises. This is normal conditioning behaviour and not a fault. Surface temperature should drop closer to the original pack's level after those initial cycles. If the pack is too hot to hold comfortably after a full cut beyond the fifth cycle, check that the battery bay vents on the mower are clear of grass clippings.
