Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Fuji CR8-LHC — 3V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery
This is a CR17450-format lithium manganese dioxide cell rated at 3V and 2400mAh (7.2Wh). It fits professional cameras, light meters, and specialised measurement instruments that call for a CR17450 cell. The chemistry delivers a flat, stable voltage curve across its discharge life — a key requirement in precision instruments where a sagging voltage rail causes erratic readings.
- CR17450 platform fit: Devices specifying this cell share the same A-size 17×45mm footprint and 3V nominal voltage rail. The Li-MnO2 chemistry meets the open-circuit voltage threshold these devices expect at power-on — typically between 2.8V and 3.3V depending on firmware or analogue detection circuit.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the rated capacity curve. Open-circuit voltage measured 3.1–3.2V fresh from packaging. Discharge under moderate load held flat through the majority of capacity before the characteristic end-of-life drop.
- Manufacture date check before install: CR17450 cells carry a printed manufacture date. Check it before dropping one into long-term or rarely used equipment. A cell stored above 25°C or in high humidity can self-discharge enough to fall below a device's acceptance threshold before it ever powers a load.
CR17450 reading lower than 3V straight out of the pack
Fresh Li-MnO2 cells ship at storage voltage, not necessarily at peak open-circuit voltage. A reading of 2.9–3.0V on a new cell is normal and does not indicate a fault. Once under load, the electrochemical reaction proceeds and voltage stabilises in the 2.8–3.0V working range. If a cell reads below 2.7V fresh, the cell has likely self-discharged during extended or improper storage — replace it.
Device not recognising a new CR17450 after long shelf storage
Some cameras and measurement instruments check cell voltage at power-on and reject anything below a set threshold — often 2.8V or 2.75V. A CR17450 stored for several years in warm conditions may drop below that threshold even if it has never been installed. Test the cell with a voltmeter before assuming the device is at fault. If the cell reads above 2.8V and the device still refuses to start, check the contact springs for oxidation and clean with isopropyl alcohol before swapping the cell.

Frequently Asked Questions
My light meter powers on briefly then shuts off immediately with a new CR17450 installed — what's happening?
This points to the cell voltage collapsing under the initial load spike rather than a dead cell. Li-MnO2 cells can show a brief voltage dip on first draw if the cell has been sitting for an extended period. Remove the cell, let it rest at room temperature for 30 minutes, then reinstall. If the cell voltage reads above 2.8V on a multimeter at rest but the device still cuts out, the contact springs are likely the issue — clean them and check for a firm, centred connection.
The CR17450 in my camera is draining noticeably faster than the rated capacity suggests — is the cell at fault?
Li-MnO2 capacity ratings are measured at moderate, steady discharge — typically 0.1mA to 1mA. Professional cameras with active metering circuits, motor drives, or flash-ready indicators draw intermittent high-current pulses that reduce total delivered capacity below the 2400mAh figure. This is a chemistry limitation, not a defect. If faster-than-expected depletion is a consistent problem, check whether the device has a standby mode that keeps the meter circuit active — disabling it between sessions preserves the cell.
Will the CR17450 deliver full capacity in cold outdoor conditions?
Li-MnO2 handles cold better than alkaline, but capacity still drops below 0°C. At −10°C expect usable capacity to fall to roughly 80–85% of the rated 2400mAh, and voltage under load will sag slightly more than at room temperature. The cell recovers as it warms up — a device that reads low battery in the cold may read normal again indoors. If you're working consistently below freezing, keep a spare cell in an inside pocket at body temperature and swap it in when capacity becomes an issue.
