Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Garmin vivosmart 5 — 3.85V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (361-00156-00)
This 3.85V, 110mAh lithium-polymer cell is a direct swap for the battery inside the Garmin vivosmart 5 fitness tracker. It fits the compact wristband platform that tracks heart rate, sleep, stress, and daily activity. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec (361-00156-00) exactly.
- vivosmart 5 platform fit: The vivosmart 5 uses a fixed connector and BMS handshake tied to the 3.85V cell architecture. This replacement matches that voltage rail and the physical footprint (25.20 × 12.00 × 3.60mm), so the BMS accepts the new cell without flagging a mismatch.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the vivosmart 5 platform. The BMS completed charge acceptance without error flags, and the fuel gauge IC re-registered state-of-charge correctly after a full charge cycle from near-zero.
- Post-swap charge requirement: After fitting this cell, place the watch on its magnetic charger immediately and charge to 100% before use. The fuel gauge IC on the vivosmart 5 loses its reference point when the original cell is removed and cannot recalibrate without one complete charge cycle from near-zero on the new cell.
Why the vivosmart 5 magnetic charger fails to register after reassembly
The vivosmart 5 charges through spring-loaded contact points on the rear housing. During a battery swap, those contacts can shift slightly if the rear cover is not reseated flush and square. When alignment is even fractionally off, the charger pins make intermittent contact and the watch will not enter charging mode. Re-seat the rear cover with even pressure around the full perimeter, then confirm the charging indicator appears within 10 seconds of docking.
Watch not pairing to phone after battery replacement
Removing the battery clears the active BLE session between the vivosmart 5 and the Garmin Connect app. The watch and phone each retain a stale pairing record that no longer matches, which causes the connection to fail silently. Delete the vivosmart 5 from your phone's Bluetooth settings and remove it from the Garmin Connect device list. Then re-add the watch through the Garmin Connect app as a new device to re-establish a clean pairing.

Frequently Asked Questions
My vivosmart 5 shows 0% and won't turn on right after I swapped the battery — is the new cell dead?
The cell is almost certainly fine. The fuel gauge IC on the vivosmart 5 loses its charge reference the moment the original battery is disconnected, so it reads zero on a new cell until recalibrated. Place the watch on its charger immediately and let it charge uninterrupted to 100% before powering it on. That single full charge cycle resets the fuel gauge IC and the percentage will read correctly from that point.
Battery on my vivosmart 5 is draining to empty in one day after fitting the replacement — was it fine before the swap?
A one-day drain on the vivosmart 5 is almost always caused by always-on display mode running alongside continuous heart rate monitoring. That combination pulls significantly more current than periodic HR sampling with the display off. Go to Settings > Display and confirm always-on is disabled, then set heart rate monitoring to Smart rather than continuous. If drain persists past two full charge cycles, check that background sync in Garmin Connect is not set to frequent.
Heart rate sensor seems to be pulling harder on the new battery than it did on the old one — readings spike and drain feels faster the first week.
This is normal behaviour during the first several charge cycles on a new cell. The heart rate sensor's optical emitter draws current based on skin contact impedance, and a freshly fitted cell presents a slightly different internal resistance profile than an aged one. The BMS adjusts over three to five full charge-discharge cycles as the cell's internal resistance settles. Track drain again after five complete cycles — if it has not normalised, check that the sensor lens and rear housing are fully seated with no gap that could cause the sensor to boost emitter power to compensate.
