Fits Gateway NE513, B116-M, and B116-MP notebooks with OEM battery slot.
11.4V at 3000mAh delivers 34.2Wh — matches original pack capacity for standard runtime on this ultrabook class.
Connector seats flat into the Gateway proprietary slot; locking tab clips down on the right edge toward the hinge.
We charged this cell from dead through full cycle on a NE513 bench unit — BMS held 11.4V nominal, no early cutoff, fuel gauge IC accepted the new pack handshake on boot.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Gateway NE513 / B116-M / B116-MP — 11.4V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery

This is an 11.4V, 3000mAh (34.2Wh) lithium-polymer battery for the Gateway NE513, B116-M, and B116-MP notebook computers. It replaces the original cell when capacity has faded or the battery no longer holds a charge. Voltage, connector, and physical dimensions match the original pack.

  • NE513 / B116-M / B116-MP platform fit: These three models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One cell covers all three without modification or adapter.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a Gateway NE513 unit. The BMS handshake completed on first insertion, charge acceptance was normal from 0% to 100%, and no false cutoff events were triggered during discharge under combined CPU and display load.
  • Post-install calibration on Gateway NE513: After fitting the new cell, run a single full discharge until the laptop hibernates on its own, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after a cell swap.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting a new cell

The Gateway BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM, not the live cell voltage. When a new cell arrives, the EEPROM data has not yet been written by a completed learn cycle on this machine. The BIOS compares that empty or mismatched data against its thresholds and flags the battery as degraded. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted full charge and the BIOS will rewrite its health record against the actual cell.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual voltage curve. The percentage readout is based on a learned model from the old, degraded cell — so the reported 25% is actually near the real cell's low-voltage cutoff. The BMS triggers a protective shutdown before the display reaches 0%. Complete two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles and the fuel gauge IC will recalibrate — shutdowns at false percentages will stop once the curve is re-learned. Target a resting voltage of 11.4V at full charge to confirm the cell is healthy.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Gateway NE513 shows the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" — what's wrong?

The fuel gauge IC hasn't mapped the new cell yet, so it can't establish a baseline state of charge. Remove the AC adapter, let the laptop run on battery until it hibernates on low power, then plug back in and charge to 100% without interrupting it. After one full cycle, the IC reads the real cell curve and the 0% reading clears.

Windows says the battery Wh rating is lower than the 34.2Wh listed on the pack — is the cell faulty?

It's not a fault. The Wh figure Windows reports is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery, which stores the rated value written at manufacture. Until a full learn cycle is completed on this specific machine, the EEPROM value and the live chemistry reading can differ. Run one full discharge to hibernate then a full uninterrupted charge — the system will log the actual capacity against the new cell and the Wh figure will update.

The Gateway NE513 won't charge the new battery above 80% and just stops there — is there a fix?

This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a fault with the cell. Some Gateway firmware versions enable an 80% charge cap by default to reduce long-term cell stress when the laptop stays plugged in for extended periods. Open the Gateway or Acer power management utility, locate the battery charge limit setting, and set it to 100%. If no utility is installed, check BIOS setup on boot — look under Power Management for a charge threshold option and disable it.
