Fits GE Echographe Vscan handheld ultrasound systems using OEM part numbers GM200011, M2840, or GM-BAT.
Delivers 7.4V and 1500mAh capacity, supplying 11.1Wh of energy for full diagnostic imaging sessions on a single charge.
Connector type matches OEM housing with keyed slot orientation; locking tab engages flush against the battery compartment frame.
We bench-tested this cell on a Vscan power-on cycle; the BMS accepted handshake on first insertion with normal charge acceptance curve.
After installation, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption — the Vscan runs BMS verification at startup, and stopping this cycle triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE Vscan Pocket Sized Ultrasound — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (GM200011)

This 7.4V 1500mAh Li-ion battery replaces the original power cell in the GE Vscan handheld ultrasound system. It fits the Vscan and Vscan Pocket Sized Ultrasound (GM200011), the point-of-care diagnostic device used in clinical and bedside settings. Capacity matches the OEM specification at 1500mAh (11.1Wh).

  • Vscan platform compatibility: The Vscan, Vscan Pocket Sized Ultrasound, and Scan Ultrasound variants share the same 7.4V battery rail and connector format. OEM part numbers GM200011, M2840, and GM-BAT all reference the same physical cell. Voltage tolerance and connector pinout are consistent across these models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles using the Vscan charge profile. The BMS handshake completed without fault codes, and the charge IC accepted the new cell without triggering an incompatibility flag.
  • Post-swap self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the Vscan to complete its full power-on self-test without interruption. The device runs a BMS verification at startup. Cutting power during this sequence triggers a battery fault flag that persists until the next clean reboot cycle.

Why the Vscan reports a battery fault after a confirmed full charge

The Vscan's charge management IC applies a conservative chemistry threshold when it encounters a new or unfamiliar cell. On the first charge cycle, the BMS has no learned capacity baseline for the replacement cell, so it defaults to a cautious cutoff. This can cause the device to flag a fault even when the cell is genuinely at full charge. One complete charge-discharge cycle allows the BMS to calibrate against the new cell's actual capacity curve, and the fault clears on subsequent charges.

Vscan won't power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the cell voltage drops below the Vscan BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell — the device will not initiate a boot sequence. The BMS interprets a deeply discharged cell as a fault condition and blocks power delivery to protect internal circuitry. Place the battery on charge for at least 30 minutes before attempting to power on. If the charge indicator shows no activity after that window, check that the charging contacts are clean and making firm contact.

Frequently Asked Questions

The Vscan shows a low battery warning immediately after I charged the replacement — did I get a dead cell?

The Vscan's BMS sets its low-battery alarm threshold against a learned capacity baseline, and a new cell has no baseline on file yet. The device is not detecting a dead cell — it is flagging an unrecognised charge profile. Run one full charge-discharge cycle without interrupting the power-on self-test, and the alarm clears once the BMS logs actual capacity data from the new cell.

The Vscan shuts off mid-examination without any warning even though the battery indicator looks fine — what's causing it?

In the first 10 cycles, a new Li-ion cell delivers less consistent current under the Vscan's imaging load than a conditioned cell does. The BMS reads a voltage sag during peak draw and triggers a protective cutoff before the indicator registers low. This is not a faulty cell — it is a break-in behaviour. Complete several full charge-discharge cycles under normal use and the sag narrows as the cell reaches full electrochemical capacity.

The charge indicator on my Vscan never reaches 100% on the first few charges — is the replacement battery underspec?

The Vscan charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it first sees a new cell, capping the accepted charge slightly below full capacity as a protective measure. This is normal behaviour on cycles one through three, not a sign the cell is underspec. The charge IC relaxes this limit once it has logged stable voltage curves from the new cell. Charge to completion three times without interrupting the session and the indicator will reach 100% reliably from cycle four onward.
