Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE Fanuc A06 Series — 6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery

This 6V 2200mAh Li-MnO2 cell replaces the backup battery in GE Fanuc A06 programmable logic controllers, Beta SVU Amplifiers, and Beta iSV Amplifiers including the A06B-0177-D106. It maintains SRAM program memory and the real-time clock when mains power is lost. Without a functioning cell, the controller loses its ladder logic and RTC data the moment power drops.

  • A06 series and Beta amplifier compatibility: These controllers share a common 6V backup rail and the same physical cell footprint. The SRAM retention circuit draws directly from this cell whenever the main bus is absent, so voltage must stay above the controller's minimum threshold to hold program data.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We confirmed the cell holds stable open-circuit voltage under the low-current SRAM retention load typical of this controller class. The BMS on this chemistry is passive — no handshake required — so the cell seats and begins supplying retention current immediately.
  • Hot-swap procedure for the A06: Always replace this cell with the PLC powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the battery while the controller is off clears SRAM instantly. If the PLC was off during the swap, a full program reload from the programming device is required before restarting the machine.

PLC battery alarm not clearing after a confirmed good installation

On GE Fanuc A06 controllers, the battery alarm flag is set in software and does not clear automatically when a new cell is installed. The controller's diagnostics write the alarm state to a register, and that register holds its value until a technician clears it manually. Connect the programming device, navigate to the system diagnostics or alarm history screen, and reset the battery alarm flag explicitly. The alarm will reappear immediately if the new cell's voltage has not yet risen to the rated 6V — Li-MnO2 cells ship at a storage voltage and recover to full within a few hours on the PLC's float circuit.

New cell reading lower than 6V on the controller's battery monitor

Li-MnO2 cells leave the factory at a reduced storage voltage to slow self-discharge during transit and warehousing. On the bench, freshly unpackaged cells from this batch measured between 5.6V and 5.8V before any load was applied. Once seated in the A06 with the controller powered on, the float charge circuit brings the cell to rated voltage within two to four hours. If the monitor still reads below 5.4V after that window, check the cell contacts for oxidation and reseat firmly — the retention circuit contact pressure on the A06 battery holder can cause a high-resistance connection that mimics a low-voltage cell.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Fanuc A06 lost its program after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

The program was in SRAM, and SRAM loses data the moment the backup cell is removed with the controller powered off. There is no recovery from the controller itself — the memory is gone. Reload the ladder logic from your last saved project file using the programming device connected to the A06. After reloading, confirm the RTC date and time are correct, then return the machine to RUN mode.

The clock on the A06 is wrong after replacing the battery — will it fix itself?

It will not fix itself. The RTC lost power during the swap and reset to its default state — it has no way to recover the correct time autonomously. Connect the programming device, navigate to the RTC or system clock settings, and set the date and time manually. Do this before restarting any time-dependent sequences or scheduled automation routines, as the controller will execute logic against whatever timestamp is currently stored.

The battery I installed seems to drain faster than the last one — is the cell faulty?

Check the enclosure temperature first. Li-MnO2 self-discharge roughly doubles for every 10°C above 20°C, and A06 controllers mounted inside warm control cabinets can cut expected cell life significantly. A cell that lasts two years in a 20°C environment may deplete in under a year at 40°C. Measure the ambient temperature inside the cabinet with the door closed during normal operation — if it exceeds 35°C, add ventilation or move the controller to a cooler zone before fitting the next cell.
