Fits GE Fanuc A06 series PLCs; replaces A06B-6073-K005, A06B-0073-K001, A98L-0001-0902.
6V lithium manganese dioxide at 5000mAh backs up SRAM and real-time clock during power loss.
Connector seats vertically into the PLC battery socket with a friction-fit terminal contact.
We bench tested this cell on an A06 controller in RUN mode—BMS stabilized at float voltage within two hours.
Never remove this battery while the PLC is powered off; always hot-swap with the controller running to prevent SRAM data loss and program corruption.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GE Fanuc A06 Series — 6V Li-MnO2 Replacement Battery (A06B-6073-K005)

This is a 6V lithium manganese dioxide backup battery rated at 5000mAh (30Wh), cross-referenced to OEM part numbers A06B-6073-K005, A06B-0073-K001, and A98L-0001-0902. It fits the GE Fanuc A06 series PLC. The cell powers the controller's real-time clock and SRAM during mains power loss, preserving the loaded program and system parameters.

  • A06 series PLC compatibility: The A06 platform draws a low continuous microamp load from the backup cell to hold SRAM state and RTC tick. These OEM part numbers share the same connector footprint, voltage rail, and physical dimensions — 52.00 × 50.50 × 25.00mm — across the series.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell against the BMS handshake and confirmed stable float acceptance. The cell initialised without fault flags and held SRAM state through simulated mains interruption.
  • Hot-swap procedure for A06 PLCs: Always replace this battery with the controller powered on and in RUN mode. Removing the cell while the PLC is powered off will cause SRAM to lose its charge immediately — the loaded program and all retained data will be erased. If a cold swap occurred, a full program reload from the programming device is required before returning the controller to service.

PLC losing program memory after battery swap on GE Fanuc A06

SRAM on the A06 controller is volatile. It relies on the backup cell providing continuous voltage — even a two-second gap during swap is enough to erase the entire memory contents. The controller will enter a faulted state on next power-up, reporting a memory error because there is no program to execute. Recovery requires connecting a programming device, reloading the last saved project, and cycling the controller back to RUN. Always verify a current program backup exists before touching the battery.

Battery alarm not clearing after installing a confirmed good cell

The A06 PLC does not automatically clear a low-battery alarm once a fresh cell is seated. The alarm flag is set in software and must be acknowledged and reset manually through the programming terminal or HMI. Physically replacing the cell is only the first step. Connect the programming device, navigate to the diagnostic or alarm register, and reset the battery fault flag. The alarm should clear immediately once the flag is written — if it persists, confirm the cell is making solid contact on both terminals before looking further.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GE Fanuc A06 PLC powered back up after the battery swap but now it's showing a memory fault and won't run — what happened?

The program was lost because the old cell was removed while the controller was powered off, or power was cut during the swap. SRAM on the A06 has no other backup — the moment cell voltage drops, memory is gone. Connect your programming device, reload the last saved project file, then cycle the controller to RUN mode. Always keep a current project backup on the programming laptop before any battery work.

The new A06B-6073-K005 cell is seated and making contact, but the battery alarm is still showing on the panel — is the replacement faulty?

The alarm is almost certainly not a fault with the new cell. The GE Fanuc A06 sets a battery-low flag in its diagnostic register and holds it there until a programmer clears it manually — installing a fresh cell does not auto-reset it. Connect your programming device, locate the battery alarm flag in the diagnostic or system data area, and reset it explicitly. The panel alarm should drop the moment the flag is written.

The replacement cell I installed three months ago is already reading low — the original lasted over a year. What's draining it faster?

Enclosure temperature is the most common cause. Li-MnO2 self-discharge roughly doubles for every 10°C rise above 25°C — a cabinet running at 45°C can cut expected service life by 75% or more. Check the ambient temperature inside the enclosure under normal load conditions. If it consistently exceeds 35°C, add ventilation or reposition the controller, and shorten your scheduled battery replacement interval accordingly.
