Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GHB ABM720 / ABM700 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BAT-BBM-A1)

This is a 3.7V, 5000mAh lithium-polymer replacement battery for the GHB ABM720 and ABM700 baby phone monitors. It replaces OEM part BAT-BBM-A1 and fits the parent unit directly. Use the capacity figure from the product listing — 5000mAh — not third-party sources.

  • ABM720 and ABM700 compatibility: Both models share the same parent unit chassis, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol, which is why a single cell covers both. Swapping between them requires no modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through the ABM720 parent unit, confirmed the BMS accepted charge without fault codes, and verified the unit powered on and held its wireless link to the camera unit across a full charge cycle.
  • Re-pair after installation: The ABM720 and ABM700 drop their wireless link to the camera unit when the parent unit loses power completely. After fitting this battery, hold the pairing button on both units until the link indicator confirms a new connection.

Parent unit not connecting to camera after battery swap

The ABM720 stores its pairing data in volatile memory that resets when the battery is fully disconnected. Fitting a new cell wipes that stored link, so the parent unit boots with no camera to talk to. This is not a fault with the replacement battery — it is expected behaviour on this platform. Trigger a fresh pairing cycle by pressing and holding the pairing button on the camera unit first, then the parent unit, until both indicators flash and lock.

Night vision cuts out shortly after battery replacement

The ABM720 camera's IR LED array draws a sustained current load that the parent unit's radio circuit prioritises at low state-of-charge. When the new battery ships at a partial charge, the parent unit can hit the BMS low-voltage cutoff threshold faster than expected during night-time use. Charge the parent unit to 100% before the first overnight session. Once the cell is at full capacity, the IR feed should remain stable through the night without interruption.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GHB ABM720 parent unit won't find the camera after I put in the new battery — is something wrong with the unit?

Nothing is wrong. The ABM720 loses its stored pairing data whenever the battery is fully disconnected, so it boots with no camera link. This happens with the original battery too if it goes completely flat. Press and hold the pairing button on the camera unit until it flashes, then do the same on the parent unit — both indicators will lock when the link is re-established.

The range on my ABM700 parent unit dropped noticeably after fitting the replacement battery — it used to reach the garden, now it barely covers the hallway.

The ABM700's radio transmitter is voltage-sensitive — output power scales with the cell's state of charge. A new battery ships at around 40–60% charge, which is enough to power the unit but not enough to run the radio at full strength. Charge the parent unit fully before testing range. At 4.2V the transmitter runs at rated output, and you should recover the original range.

The parent unit screen is staying on all night and the battery is nearly flat by morning — is the battery faulty?

The battery is not faulty. The ABM720 parent unit screen is one of the highest draws on the cell, and leaving it on through the night will pull the 5000mAh cell down to a low state of charge by morning. Go into the display settings and enable the screen timeout or auto-dim function so the screen cuts after a set period of inactivity. With the screen timing out correctly, the cell should carry the unit through a full overnight session on standby and audio-only mode.
