Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GolfBuddy Voice X — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (DR652525)
The DR652525 is a 3.7V 400mAh Li-Polymer cell for the GolfBuddy Voice X GPS golf watch. It fits the Voice X and 2ALG4 VoiceX variants. Swap this cell when the original no longer holds a charge through a full round.
- Voice X and 2ALG4 VoiceX compatibility: Both models run the same 3.7V power rail and share the DR652525 footprint — 26 × 25 × 6mm. The BMS connector pinout and cell dimensions are identical across these two variants, so one cell covers both.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and GPS-active discharge on the Voice X platform. The BMS accepted the new cell cleanly, with no handshake errors or low-voltage cutoff trips during the test cycle.
- Post-swap fuel gauge reset: After fitting this cell, place the watch on its charger immediately and run a full charge to 100% before first use. The fuel gauge IC on the Voice X cannot set its reference point without a complete charge cycle from near-zero following a cell swap — skipping this step causes the percentage readout to behave erratically.
Why the Voice X GPS lock pulls harder on a new cell than the old one did
A degraded Li-Polymer cell develops higher internal impedance over time. The GPS module draws a spike of current during satellite acquisition, and an aged cell sags under that load — so the watch throttles GPS update frequency to compensate. A fresh DR652525 has lower impedance, so the GPS module runs at full acquisition current without triggering the BMS undervoltage threshold. During the first week after a swap, the fuel gauge may read slightly inconsistently while it learns the new cell's discharge curve — this normalises after three to five full charge cycles.
Watch showing 0% and refusing to power on after cell swap
This is a fuel gauge IC problem, not a faulty cell. The MAX or similar coulomb-counter IC on the Voice X loses its stored reference the moment the old cell is disconnected. With no reference, it reads the new cell's resting voltage as 0% and the watch protection circuit refuses to boot. Connect the watch to its charger immediately after reassembly — the charger line forces the IC to reinitialise and accept the cell. Charge to 100% before attempting to power on; once the gauge completes that first full cycle, the readout stabilises at the correct state of charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Voice X paired fine before I replaced the battery — now my phone can't find it at all. What happened?
Removing the cell clears the active BLE session stored in the watch's volatile memory. The phone still shows the old pairing entry, but the watch has no record of it. Open your phone's Bluetooth settings, forget the GolfBuddy device completely, then re-pair from scratch through the GolfBuddy app — the watch will advertise as a new device once it has booted fully after a complete charge.
The watch is charging and powering on fine, but the battery is dead by the time I finish 18 holes — this didn't happen with the original cell when it was new.
Continuous GPS tracking combined with always-on distance display is the main draw on the Voice X. If auto-sleep is disabled or the backlight timeout is set to maximum, current draw stays elevated throughout the round. Check the display timeout setting and confirm GPS update frequency is not set to the highest interval — dropping from one-second to three-second updates measurably reduces draw over a four-hour round. Also confirm the charge actually reached 100% on the first post-swap cycle, as an uncalibrated fuel gauge will cut the watch off early even when charge remains in the cell.
The magnetic charger clicked into place but the charging icon never appeared — is the new battery defective?
The most likely cause is a contact alignment shift during reassembly rather than a cell fault. Open the back cover and check that the cell connector is fully seated — a partially engaged connector raises contact resistance enough that the charger circuit sees an open load. Also check that the watch is sitting squarely on the magnetic puck with no gap; even a half-millimetre tilt can break the charging circuit. Re-seat the connector, close the case, place the watch flat on the charger, and confirm the charging icon appears within 30 seconds.
