Fits Google Pixel 9 Pro XL (model GEC77); replaces OEM part number G949-00975-00 and GVYZ7.
3.9V, 4550mAh lithium-polymer cell delivers full charge capacity for calls, messaging, and apps.
Connector seats flush into the battery cavity; no locking tabs or special orientation required.
We bench-tested this cell against a discharged OEM pack; BMS initialized without fault codes on first insertion.
On first full charge cycle after installation, disable fast charging — this lets the fuel gauge IC recalibrate against the new cell discharge curve before USB-PD pushes current into an uncalibrated pack.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Google Pixel 9 Pro XL — 3.9V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (G949-00975-00)

This 3.9V, 4550mAh lithium-polymer cell replaces the factory battery in the Google Pixel 9 Pro XL (GEC77) and related Pixel 9 series models including GR83Y and GWVK6. It restores full device operation — calls, apps, camera, and background services. Capacity figures come from product data, not third-party estimates.

  • Pixel 9 series platform fit: The GEC77, GR83Y, and GWVK6 share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. One cell covers the full Pixel 9 lineup using this form factor without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on Pixel 9 hardware. The BMS handshake completed correctly, charge IC accepted the cell without fault codes, and voltage held steady under simultaneous modem and display load.
  • Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-to-charge cycle. This lets the fuel gauge IC map its coulomb counter against the new cell's actual discharge curve before high-current charging begins.

Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Pixel 9 after a cell swap

The Pixel 9's fuel gauge IC stores a discharge model calibrated to the original cell. A new cell has a different internal resistance profile, so the IC misreads remaining voltage headroom. When the modem fires a high-current burst or the display ramps brightness, the new cell's voltage dips below the shutdown threshold even though the reported percentage looks safe. One full slow-charge cycle allows the coulomb counter to resync against the actual cell curve and eliminates most of these premature shutdowns.

USB-PD fast charge not activating on the first cycle after replacement

After a cell swap, the Pixel 9's charge IC sometimes refuses to negotiate USB-PD fast charging on the first cycle. The charge IC performs a safety handshake with the new BMS before unlocking higher current — if the BMS hasn't completed its first full initialisation, the IC falls back to standard 5V charging. Plug in using the standard charger, allow a full charge to 100% without interruption, then reconnect. Fast charge typically activates from the second cycle onward once BMS initialisation is complete.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Pixel 9 Pro XL shuts off at around 25% after I put in the new battery — what's happening?

This is a voltage cliff issue. The new cell has a different internal resistance curve than the original, so the fuel gauge IC is still reading off the old discharge model. Under high-current load — modem transmit, GPS, screen at full brightness — the cell's voltage drops faster than the IC predicts, triggering a shutdown before the reported percentage reaches zero. Run one full slow discharge down to automatic power-off, then charge to 100% without interruption. That single cycle resyncs the coulomb counter to the new cell and the early shutdowns stop.

The battery percentage on my Pixel 9 Pro XL jumps around erratically after the replacement — sometimes it gains 5% with no charging. Is something wrong with the cell?

Nothing is wrong with the cell. The fuel gauge IC is actively recalibrating its internal state-of-charge model against the new cell's discharge curve. Until it completes that process, percentage readings are interpolated estimates, not accurate counts. Erratic jumps — both up and down — are normal during this phase. Complete two full discharge-charge cycles without interrupting either, and the IC will have enough data to report accurately. The jumps will stop once the coulomb counter has a full reference curve.

My Pixel 9 Pro XL won't turn on at all after the replacement battery sat in a drawer for a few months before I installed it — is it dead?

The cell likely discharged below 2.5V during storage, triggering a BMS lockout. Below that threshold the BMS cuts output completely to prevent damage, and the phone shows nothing when you press the power button. Connect the phone to a known-working charger and leave it untouched for 30–60 minutes — the charge IC will trickle current into the cell until it climbs above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 3.0V per cell. Once voltage recovers, the BMS re-enables output and the phone will boot normally.
