Fits Siemens Gigaset cordless handsets that originally used GP T188 or T340 batteries.
3.6V 1200mAh Ni-MH chemistry restores full talk time and standby duration to worn handsets.
Connector slides straight into the handset battery slot with a positive contact spring lock.
We bench-tested this pack in a Gigaset base station — BMS accepted voltage immediately, no conditioning delay.
After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — NiMH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

GP T188 / T340 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (T188, T340)

This GP battery is a 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH pack that fits Siemens Gigaset cordless handsets using the T188 or T340 battery format. It restores talk time and standby capacity when the original cell has degraded. Voltage and connector match the Gigaset charging circuit directly.

  • T188 and T340 handset compatibility: Both OEM part numbers share the same 3.6V single-cell Ni-MH format, the same footprint, and the same two-contact connector used on the Gigaset base charging rail. One replacement covers both variants.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a Gigaset base station and confirmed the BMS accepted charge from the first dock, held voltage through a full discharge curve, and showed no false-empty cutoff at mid-cycle.
  • First charge on Gigaset handsets: After installing, seat the handset in the base and leave it for a full 16 hours before first use. Ni-MH cells shipped in a partial state need a slow first charge to reach their rated 1200mAh — skipping this shortens capacity on every cycle that follows.

Base station showing no charge light after fitting a new Ni-MH pack

Gigaset base stations check incoming cell voltage before starting the charge cycle. A Ni-MH battery stored for several months can drop below 3.0V, which the base reads as a fault rather than a flat cell. The fix is to bridge-charge the pack briefly with a compatible external Ni-MH charger until voltage climbs above 3.2V. Once voltage recovers, re-seat the handset in the base and the charge indicator returns to normal.

Talk time noticeably shorter than the original battery after replacement

New Ni-MH cells need three to five full charge-discharge cycles before they deliver rated capacity — this is normal, not a fault. On cycles one and two, available capacity typically sits 20–30% below the 1200mAh figure. Each full cycle conditions the cell chemistry and recovers more headroom. By cycle five, measured discharge should reach or exceed the original battery's end-of-life output.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Gigaset base won't show a charge light after I put the new battery in — is the pack dead?

Almost certainly not. Ni-MH packs lose voltage during storage, and if the cell has dropped below roughly 3.0V the Gigaset base refuses to start a charge cycle rather than trickle it back up. Use an external Ni-MH charger to bring the pack above 3.2V, then re-seat the handset in the base. The charge indicator should come on within a minute of re-docking.

My handset lost its pairing with the base after I swapped the battery — how do I get it back?

Removing the battery cuts all power to the handset, and some Gigaset DECT models wipe their pairing data when power drops to zero. This is a handset behaviour, not a battery fault. Re-register the handset through the base station menu — on most Gigaset models, hold the paging button on the base for three seconds, then run the handset registration from the handset's settings menu.

The handset is fully charged but the signal drops and calls cut out when I move away from the base — did the swap cause this?

Yes, it can. Ni-MH voltage sags under the RF transmit load a cordless phone draws during a call, especially in the first few cycles before the cell is conditioned. A low-capacity or under-cycled pack can't sustain the voltage the radio module needs at range, so the signal collapses. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles to condition the cell, then retest range — transmit stability improves as the pack reaches its rated 1200mAh.
