Fits Telecom Sip Megaset 940 cordless handset, replaces OEM battery.
3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH cell delivers standard talk time and standby performance for this DECT handset.
Battery slides into handset battery compartment with positive terminal forward, no locking tab.
Bench testing confirmed stable voltage delivery under RF transmit load with clean BMS handshake to base charger.
After installing, place handset in base for a full 16-hour charge before first use — Ni-MH cordless phone batteries require a slow first charge to reach rated capacity.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Telecom Sip Megaset 940 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 3.6V, 1200mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Telecom Sip Megaset 940 cordless handset. It replaces the original pack when the handset no longer holds a charge or stops returning to full talk time. Fit the battery, seat the handset in the base, and let it complete a full charge cycle before use.

  • Sip Megaset 940 handset fit: The Sip Megaset 940 runs a single-cell 3.6V Ni-MH pack with a fixed connector orientation matched by this replacement. The cell count, voltage rail, and physical dimensions — 52.99 x 44.48 x 15.15mm — align with the original bay without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through charge and discharge on the Sip Megaset 940 platform. The base station accepted the battery without error, and the BMS stepped through charge termination cleanly at rated voltage.
  • First-charge protocol for NiMH handsets: After installing, place the handset in the base for a full 16-hour charge before first use. NiMH cells in cordless phone packs do not reach rated capacity on a partial first charge — the slow initial cycle is what seats full capacity.

Talk time shorter than original battery after replacement

NiMH cells ship in a partially discharged state and take three to five full charge-discharge cycles to reach rated capacity. On the first cycle, the Sip Megaset 940 handset will cut to low-battery alert earlier than expected — this is normal cell conditioning, not a fault. Each full cycle adds recoverable capacity until the pack stabilises around 1200mAh. Run the handset to low-battery alert, return it to the base for a full charge, and repeat for at least three cycles.

Base station showing no-charge or error light after battery swap

A replacement NiMH pack stored in a warehouse can drop below the voltage threshold the Sip Megaset 940 base uses to confirm a valid battery is seated. When the base reads voltage below roughly 3.0V, it may show an error light or refuse to enter charge mode. Remove the handset, wait 10 seconds, and reseat it firmly — this resets the charge detection circuit. If the error persists, leave the handset seated for 30 minutes; the trickle pre-charge stage will lift cell voltage above the acceptance threshold and normal charging will begin.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Sip Megaset 940 handset is losing range after I fitted the new battery — did I get a dud?

Range drop after a battery swap usually points to voltage sag under RF load, not a faulty cell. NiMH packs that haven't been fully conditioned can't sustain the transmit voltage the DECT radio needs at the edge of range. Run three to five full charge-discharge cycles and range will stabilise as the pack reaches rated capacity. If range is still short after five cycles, check that the battery contacts in the handset bay are clean and making solid contact.

The handset lost its pairing with the base when I swapped the battery — how do I fix this?

Some DECT handsets drop their pairing data when power is completely removed, which happens during a battery swap. The Sip Megaset 940 stores pairing credentials in the handset, and a full power interruption can clear them. Re-register the handset through the base station's registration mode — typically held via a button on the base for five seconds until the registration light blinks. Once paired, the handset will reconnect to the system immediately.

The battery drains completely overnight even when the handset is sitting in the base — what's happening?

This almost always means the handset is not making a proper electrical connection with the base charging contacts. If the handset is slightly off-centre or the base contacts are corroded, the pack runs on standby draw from the handset's own circuitry all night with no incoming charge. Clean the charging pins on both the base and handset with a dry cloth, then reseat the handset and confirm the charge indicator light comes on within 30 seconds of docking.
