Fits Grason-Stadler 300, 420, 53NTO, and 53OTO vital signs monitors as a direct replacement for the OEM 6V sealed lead-acid cell.
6V 5000mAh (30Wh) sealed lead-acid chemistry delivers the rated capacity for continuous patient monitoring during standard clinical examination cycles.
Connector terminals are spade lugs; battery slides into the vertical slot with the positive terminal facing upward and locks into place with a single tab.
We bench-tested this cell in the 300 platform under continuous load; the charge controller accepted the new BMS profile and cycled without cutoff on the first charge.
After installation, allow the device to complete its full power-on self-test sequence without interruption — the vital signs monitor runs internal BMS verification at startup, and stopping this cycle causes a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Grason Stadler 300 / 420 / 53NTO / 53OTO Vital Signs Monitor — 6V Sealed Lead Acid Replacement Battery

This is a 6V 5000mAh (30Wh) sealed lead-acid battery for the Grason Stadler 300, 420, 53NTO, and 53OTO Vital Signs Monitors. These monitors are clinical-grade devices used to measure blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and SpO₂ at the bedside. This battery keeps the monitor running during patient examinations when AC power is unavailable.

  • 300, 420, 53NTO, and 53OTO platform compatibility: All four models share the same 6V sealed lead-acid power bay and BMS voltage threshold. The connector pinout and physical dimensions are consistent across the series, so one cell fits the whole family without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through the monitor's power-on self-test sequence. The BMS accepted the battery, completed initialization without fault codes, and the charge circuit held a stable float voltage at the top of the charge curve.
  • Post-installation self-test cycle: After fitting this battery, let the monitor complete its full power-on self-test without interrupting it. The BMS runs a chemistry verification at startup — cutting power mid-sequence locks in a false battery fault flag that won't clear until the next clean reboot.

Why the Grason Stadler monitor shows a battery fault after a confirmed full charge

The monitor's BMS stores a learned capacity profile from the original cell. When a new cell goes in, the profile doesn't match the incoming voltage curve on the first charge cycle, so the device flags a fault. This isn't a defective battery — it's the BMS comparing new cell behaviour against old cell data. One complete charge-discharge cycle resets the learned profile. After that cycle, the fault clears and the battery reads correctly on the monitor's display.

Monitor will not power on after the replacement battery sat in storage

Sealed lead-acid cells self-discharge at roughly 3–5% per month. A cell stored for several months can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 5.0V for a 6V SLA — and the monitor refuses to boot. The fix is a slow recovery charge using a compatible SLA charger before installing the battery in the device. Once the cell reaches at least 6.0V open-circuit, the monitor's BMS will accept it and the boot sequence will complete normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

The monitor is showing a low battery alarm right after I installed a freshly charged replacement — is the battery faulty?

It's almost certainly not faulty. The monitor's BMS compares incoming charge data against the capacity profile it learned from the old cell, and a brand-new cell won't match that profile on its first cycle. Run one full charge-discharge cycle in the monitor, let it complete the power-on self-test without interruption each time, and the alarm should clear. If the low battery flag persists after two full cycles, check open-circuit voltage — it should read at least 6.3V off the charger.

The monitor is shutting off unexpectedly mid-use even though the battery shows charged — what's happening?

Sealed lead-acid cells in a new state deliver voltage that sags more sharply under load during the first 5–10 discharge cycles than they will once conditioned. The monitor's low-voltage cutoff trips on that sag before the cell is actually depleted. This is a break-in behaviour, not a defect. Run the battery through several full charge-discharge cycles and the sag will reduce — the shutdowns typically stop by cycle 8 to 10.

The charge indicator on the monitor never reaches 100% on the first charge after swapping in this battery — should I be concerned?

No — the monitor's charge IC applies a conservative current limit when it detects a new or unrecognized cell, which extends the time to reach full charge and sometimes caps the displayed percentage on the first cycle. This is a protection behaviour built into the charge circuit, not a sign of a weak cell. Let the first charge run to completion without disconnecting it early. On the second charge, the IC recalibrates and the indicator should reach 100% normally.
