Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Haaga 355 accu — 18V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This 18V 3000mAh (54Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original pack on the Haaga 355 accu push sweeper. It fits the 355 accu directly and restores normal sweeper operation when the factory battery no longer holds a charge. Voltage and cell chemistry match the original specification.
- Haaga 355 accu compatibility: The 355 accu runs an 18V brushed motor driving the brush roller assembly. The replacement battery uses the same 18V cell configuration and connector format so the BMS handshake between pack and sweeper completes without fault codes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran the pack through charge and discharge cycles on an 18V load rig. The BMS held cell balancing correctly across the full discharge curve and triggered low-voltage cutoff cleanly before any cell dropped below the safe floor.
- Sweeper brush-load care: If the brush roller is clogged with debris, the motor draws significantly higher current at start-up. Clear the roller before each session — a blocked roller can repeatedly spike current draw and trip the BMS overcurrent protection on the new pack before the cells have completed a full cycle.
BMS cutoff on motor-start inrush with a new pack
On the first few uses, a fresh 18V Li-ion pack has its overcurrent threshold set conservatively until the BMS has logged actual motor inrush data from your specific sweeper. If the brush roller is partially obstructed, the motor pulls a larger inrush spike on start-up than the BMS expects. This can cause the pack to cut out immediately when the sweeper is switched on. Run the sweeper at light load — clear debris only, no heavy leaf piles — for the first two cycles to allow the BMS to calibrate against the motor's actual draw pattern.
Charger not recognising the pack after extended storage
Li-ion cells that have sat unused for several months can drop below 12–13V at the pack level, which is below the acceptance threshold most 18V chargers require before they begin a charge cycle. The charger may show a blinking red light or no response at all. A brief conditioning charge using a charger with a recovery or "wake" mode will bring the pack voltage up to the acceptance window — typically above 14V — at which point the standard charge cycle starts normally. If the charger has no recovery mode, connect the pack for 30 seconds, disconnect, and retry; some chargers re-poll on reconnection.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Haaga 355 accu cuts out the instant I switch it on — what's happening?
This is a BMS overcurrent trip caused by the motor-start inrush spike exceeding the protection threshold on a new or cold pack. It happens most often when the brush roller is jammed with leaves or wet debris, which forces the motor to pull far more current than it would on a free-spinning roller. Clear the roller completely, then switch the sweeper on with nothing in its path. If it runs cleanly, the BMS threshold was not the problem — recheck the roller for partial blockages that aren't visible from above.
The sweeper runs but feels underpowered and the brush roller bogs down on light debris — is the battery at fault?
Weak-under-load behaviour usually means voltage sag — the pack voltage drops enough under motor load that the sweeper's controller reduces power to protect the cells. This can come from high contact resistance at the battery terminals, which you can check by cleaning the terminal contacts on both the pack and the sweeper with a dry cloth. If the terminals are clean and sag persists, discharge the pack fully and recharge once — repeated shallow cycles (topping up before the pack is significantly depleted) can cause surface passivation on the cells that raises internal resistance and worsens sag.
My sweeper performs noticeably worse in cold weather — is the battery failing or is this normal?
This is normal Li-ion behaviour. Below 5°C, internal resistance in Li-ion cells rises sharply, which increases voltage sag under load and causes the BMS to cut power earlier in the discharge curve. The battery is not failing — capacity and performance return once the cells warm up, either from ambient temperature or from a few minutes of light use. Store the pack indoors overnight before cold-weather sessions and the first sweep cycle will feel noticeably stronger than if you take a cold pack straight from a garden shed.
