My Haier HC-LB5125G has noticeably weaker suction now compared to when the battery was new — is this a battery problem?

Weak suction that develops gradually is almost always a combination of filter restriction and cell capacity fade, not one or the other. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw above its rated current, which causes the BMS to throttle output — suction drops even though the battery indicator still shows charge. Clean the filter first. If suction restores to normal after a fresh charge with a clean filter, the battery was masking a maintenance issue. If suction is still weak with a clean filter and a full charge, the original cell has lost usable capacity and the replacement pack is the right call.

The replacement battery won't charge — the charger light just flashes and stops. What's happening?

Some Haier chargers expect a specific BMS handshake from the pack before they begin a charge cycle. If the replacement cell arrives deeply discharged from storage, the pack voltage may sit below the charger's minimum acceptance threshold, and the charger rejects it before handshake completes. Connect the pack to the charger and leave it for 20–30 minutes without interrupting — many chargers include a trickle pre-charge mode that will bring the cell voltage up to the acceptance window. If the charger light still rejects it after that period, measure pack voltage directly at the terminals; a reading below 12V on an 18V Li-ion pack indicates deep discharge damage and the cell will not recover.

The battery faded fast — it barely lasted a few months before runtime dropped sharply. What caused that?

Rapid capacity fade in cordless vacuum batteries is most commonly caused by leaving the unit on the charging dock between every use. Continuous trickle charge keeps Li-ion cells at 100% state of charge permanently, which accelerates degradation at the cell level. The fix going forward is to charge only when the battery is depleted, then remove the vacuum from the dock once the charge light confirms full. This replacement pack starts fresh — treat it to charge-and-remove cycles rather than permanent dock storage and it will hold capacity significantly longer than the original did.
