Fits Hitachi 553 845, VM-975LE, VM-D675LA, VM-D865LE and 42 additional camera models with original battery contact layout.
7.4V lithium-ion at 4400mAh delivers 32.56Wh — matches original output for flash recycling and continuous autofocus during extended shoots.
Connector seats flush into camera body with side-locking tab; orientation marked on cell housing and battery compartment guide rails.
We bench-tested charge acceptance in three Hitachi bodies; BMS handshake completed on first insertion without fault codes or contact cleaning needed.
On first use, charge fully in the camera body itself — Hitachi camera firmware requires a charge cycle from within the device to map this cell's discharge curve for accurate battery-remaining display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hitachi VM-D675LA / VM-D865LE Series — 7.4V Li-ion 4400mAh Replacement Battery

This is a 7.4V Li-ion battery rated at 4400mAh (32.56Wh) for Hitachi camcorders including the 553 845, VM-975LE, VM-D675LA, VM-D865LE, and 42 additional compatible models. It slots into the same battery bay as the original cell. Voltage and connector match the OEM spec directly.

  • Multi-model camcorder fit: These Hitachi camcorder models share the same battery bay format, contact pin layout, and 7.4V supply rail. One cell covers the full platform without any adaptor or modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through full charge and discharge on compatible Hitachi camcorder hardware. The BMS held voltage within spec across the discharge curve and did not trigger low-voltage cutoff prematurely under normal recording load.
  • First-install charge cycle on Hitachi camcorders: Insert the new cell and run one full charge cycle through the camera body or OEM charger before heavy use. Hitachi camcorder BMS systems use that first cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve — skipping it causes the battery-remaining indicator to read inaccurately from the first shoot.

Why Hitachi camcorders reject a third-party cell on first install

Hitachi camcorders run a BMS authentication check on every new cell. A replacement cell that hasn't completed a charge cycle inside the body or OEM charger may not pass this check on cold insertion. The camera reads the cell's internal resistance signature before accepting it. Power off the camera, remove the battery, reinsert it, then charge fully via the OEM charger — one complete cycle clears the rejection flag on most models in this range.

Battery percentage jumping erratically during recording

This happens when the camcorder's fuel gauge maps its voltage thresholds against the original cell's discharge curve, which differs slightly from a new aftermarket cell. The indicator reads a voltage point and translates it to the wrong percentage bracket. It's a display issue, not a capacity fault — actual charge in the cell is unaffected. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the body and the gauge recalibrates to the new cell's curve.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Hitachi camcorder shows a dead battery icon immediately after inserting the new cell — is the battery faulty?

This is the BMS authentication check firing before the cell has been accepted. Remove the battery, reinsert it, and place the camera on the OEM charger for a full charge cycle without interrupting it. One complete charge from within the camera body is usually enough for the camcorder to recognise and accept the new cell. After that cycle, the dead battery icon clears on all models we tested in this range.

The battery percentage jumps from 60% to 20% with no warning during recording — what's causing that?

The camcorder's voltage-to-percentage map was calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new cell discharges at a slightly different rate across the same voltage range, so the indicator hits a threshold and drops a large bracket at once. The cell itself is not defective — actual capacity is intact. Run two full charge-discharge cycles through the camera body and the gauge will remap to the new curve.

Flash recycling is noticeably slower near the end of a charge on these Hitachi models — is that normal with a replacement cell?

Yes, and it happens with original cells too. Capacitor recharge draws a high current spike, and as cell voltage drops toward the lower end of the discharge curve, the available current for that spike reduces. The result is a longer recycle gap between flashes. Keep the cell above 7.0V at the terminals during heavy flash work — charge before extended flash-intensive sessions rather than running the cell down to cutoff.
