Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hoover BH55210 / BH53310 Series — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BH15030)
This is a 20V, 4900mAh lithium-ion battery that replaces part number BH15030 in Hoover cordless vacuum cleaners. It fits the BH55210, BH53310, BH53350, BH53420 and more than 33 additional Hoover cordless models. Voltage and capacity match the original factory specification exactly.
- BH55210 / BH53-series compatibility: These models share the same 20V battery rail, connector housing, and BMS handshake protocol. A single battery platform covers the full range, so the cell seats and communicates correctly without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a BH55210 under sustained carpet-mode load. The BMS held the voltage rail stable across draw cycles and tripped cleanly at the low-voltage threshold without a hard fault state.
- Dock charging habit for this vacuum: Remove the battery from the charging dock once it reaches full charge. Hoover cordless vacuums left on the dock continuously receive a low-level trickle current that accelerates capacity fade in lithium cells — this is the leading cause of shortened battery life in this series.
Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low
This happens when the motor is working against a restriction — a clogged filter or partial blockage forces it to draw more current than the rated load. The voltage rail sags under that elevated draw, and the vacuum loses suction even though the battery indicator still shows charge remaining. The BMS reads actual cell voltage, not the indicator display, and it will reduce output before the LED catches up. Check and clean the filter first; if suction recovers, the battery is not the fault.
Motor cutting out mid-clean then recovering after a short pause
This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a failing battery. When suction is restricted — blocked filter, clogged brush roll, or a sealed-off intake — the motor pulls current above the BMS threshold and the circuit opens to protect the cells. After a brief pause the BMS resets and the vacuum powers back on. Clear the restriction completely, then run the vacuum on a clean floor to confirm the cutout does not repeat. If it still trips on an unrestricted surface, check that cell voltage at rest reads above 18V before charging.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Hoover BH55210 has noticeably less suction lately but the battery indicator still shows it's charged — is the battery failing?
Not necessarily. A clogged or partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which sags the voltage rail and kills suction even while the indicator still reads high. The BMS responds to actual cell voltage, not the LED display, so the indicator lags behind the real state. Clean the filter and check the brush roll for blockage first — if suction returns to normal, the battery is not the cause.
The motor on my Hoover cordless cuts out for a few seconds then comes back on — what's happening?
That's the BMS tripping on overcurrent, which it does when the motor is fighting a restriction and pulling above the cell's rated discharge limit. It's a protection event, not a battery defect — the circuit opens, the cells recover, and the BMS resets. Clear any blockage from the filter, intake, and brush roll, then test on a hard floor with no restriction. If the cutout still happens on an open surface, rest the battery for 10 minutes and measure charger indicator status before the next cycle.
The replacement battery fades noticeably faster than the original did when it was new — is this normal break-in or something else?
Rapid capacity fade on a new cell is almost always caused by continuous dock charging rather than a defective battery. Leaving a lithium-ion cell on the dock after it reaches full charge exposes it to sustained low-level current that degrades capacity faster than normal cycling does. Charge the battery to full, remove it from the dock, and store it off the charger between uses. If fade continues after correcting the charging habit, check that resting voltage after a full charge reaches at least 20V before use.
