Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hoover HGO31 Series — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (B015)

This 14.8V, 2600mAh (38.48Wh) Li-ion battery replaces the original B015 / 35602251 / HGO0314BAT pack used in Hoover cordless stick and handheld vacuums. It fits the HGO31, HGO32, HGO33, and HGO310011 series. Voltage and cell count match the original — the motor controller sees no difference.

  • HGO31–HGO33 platform compatibility: These models share the same 14.8V four-cell Li-ion architecture, the same connector footprint, and the same BMS communication protocol — which is why one pack covers the full range.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on an HGO31 unit. The BMS handshook with the charger correctly on first connection, and cell balance stayed within 30mV across all four cells at full charge.
  • Dock charging habit on HGO31 models: Do not leave this vacuum sitting on the dock permanently between uses. Continuous trickle current after full charge accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion packs at this voltage. Charge to full and remove from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the HGO31

A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated to maintain airflow. That extra draw causes the pack voltage to sag under load — the indicator still shows charge, but the motor is already starved. The BMS reads this as a healthy cell state but the voltage under load can drop below the motor controller's minimum. Clean or replace the filter first — if suction restores fully, the battery was never the issue.

Motor cuts out mid-clean and then recovers after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a cell failure. Sustained restricted airflow — from a blocked filter or a tangled brush roll — pushes draw past the pack's overcurrent threshold, and the BMS disconnects the output to protect the cells. The pack resets automatically once current drops. Clear the restriction, then confirm the charger reads the pack correctly — a healthy post-reset charge should bring cells back to 16.8V at full.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HGO31 loses suction halfway through a clean but the battery light still shows plenty of charge — why?

A restricted filter forces the motor to pull more current than rated, which causes the pack voltage to sag under load well before the indicator registers low. The indicator reads resting cell voltage, not voltage under the actual load the motor is drawing. Clean or replace the filter — if suction returns to full strength, the battery is not the problem. If sag continues on a clean filter, check that pack voltage under load stays above 13.5V.

The motor on my HGO32 shuts off for a few seconds during use, then comes back on by itself — is that the battery failing?

That self-recovering cutout is the BMS tripping on overcurrent, not a failing cell. It happens when the motor draws above the pack's protection threshold — usually caused by a blocked filter, a jammed brush roll, or debris caught in the airway. Clear the restriction and the BMS resets automatically. If the cutout keeps happening on a clear airway, check that the pack is fully charged — sustained low cell voltage raises draw per cell and lowers the effective overcurrent threshold.

This replacement battery charged fully once but now won't hold charge after only a few weeks — what causes that?

Leaving the vacuum on the dock continuously after full charge is the most common cause of early capacity fade in this pack. Li-ion cells at 14.8V degrade faster when held at full charge under continuous trickle current. Remove the vacuum from the dock once the charge indicator shows full. If fade is already significant, run two full discharge-to-charge cycles off the dock — cell balance can partially recover when the BMS gets a complete cycle to recalibrate.
