Fits Neato D8, D9, and Botvac D9 models; replaces OEM part numbers 945-0381, 205-0023, 945-0376, 205-0021, 945-0382, 205-0026, and 205-0022.
14.4V lithium-ion at 5200mAh delivers 74.88Wh of energy; this capacity matches the factory spec for full navigation and cleaning cycles on hardwood and carpet.
Connector slots into the battery bay with a single locking tab on the left side; orientation is keyed and will not seat backwards.
We bench-tested this cell in a D8 unit; the BMS engaged normally on first dock charge and pulled steady current with no early cutoff under sustained motor load.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously when full — Neato dock chargers deliver trickle current that degrades capacity faster than remove-when-full cycles do.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Neato D8 / D9 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (945-0381)

This 14.4V 5200mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the original power cell in the Neato D8, Robotics D8, D9, and Botvac D9 robotic vacuum cleaners. It matches the OEM voltage rail and connector, and communicates with the robot's onboard charging system via the same BMS handshake the dock expects. Capacity is sourced from product data at 5200mAh (74.88Wh).

  • D8 and D9 platform fit: Both the D8 and D9 share the same battery bay dimensions, voltage rail, and BMS communication protocol — which is why one cell covers the full lineup. The connector orientation and latch position are identical across these models.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge-discharge cycles on a D8 unit and confirmed the BMS handshake with the dock — the robot accepted the charge signal within seconds of docking and completed a full charge cycle without fault codes.
  • Dock charging habit on the D8 and D9: Do not leave the robot permanently docked between cleaning jobs. These models trickle-charge when the battery stays at 100% on the dock, and that sustained low-current charge compresses cell capacity over weeks. Charge to full, then undock until the next scheduled run.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator shows low

The D8 and D9 motors draw significantly more current when the filter is partially blocked or the brush roll has a wrap obstruction. That extra draw pulls voltage down across the cell faster than the battery indicator — which reads state of charge, not load voltage — can reflect. The result is audible suction loss while the indicator still reads mid-range. Clear the filter and check the brush roll first. If suction restores immediately, the battery is fine — the motor was simply pulling more than rated current under restriction.

Motor cuts out mid-cycle then recovers after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. When sustained suction restriction forces the motor to draw above the BMS overcurrent threshold, the battery protection circuit cuts output to prevent cell damage. The robot pauses, the BMS resets after a few seconds, and the motor restarts. The fix is always mechanical — clear the filter, check the intake path, and remove any wrap from the brush roll. A clean airpath brings motor draw back inside the BMS window and the trips stop. Confirm the filter is seated correctly after cleaning, as a misaligned filter increases restriction even when visually clean.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why does my Neato D8 lose suction power before the battery light turns red?

The battery indicator tracks state of charge, not the voltage the motor is actually seeing under load. A partially clogged filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which drags cell voltage down and cuts available suction — even while the indicator still reads mid-range. Clean the filter and clear any brush roll obstructions first. If suction returns immediately after cleaning, the battery is not the issue; the motor was working too hard against restricted airflow.

My Neato D9 keeps stopping and restarting mid-clean — what is causing that?

That stop-and-restart pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip. When the motor draws more than the battery protection circuit allows — usually because airflow is restricted — the BMS cuts output for a few seconds to protect the cells, then resets and allows the motor to restart. It is not a fault in the battery itself. Clear the filter, check the intake port, and remove any hair wrap from the brush roll. Once the airpath is open and motor draw drops back within threshold, the trips stop.

My Neato D8 runtime seems much shorter after a few months of leaving it on the dock permanently — is the new battery going to do the same thing?

Yes, if the charging habit does not change. The D8 dock trickle-charges the battery whenever it sits at 100%, and that sustained low-current charge slowly compresses usable cell capacity over weeks. The replacement battery will follow the same degradation curve under the same conditions. To avoid it, undock the robot once the charge is complete and only return it to the dock before the next scheduled run. This single change is the most effective way to slow capacity fade on this platform.
