Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Chromebook 11 G7 EE / 11A G6 / X360 11 G1 EE — 7.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (GM02XL)
This 7.7V, 6100mAh (46.97Wh) lithium-polymer cell replaces the GM02XL battery in the HP Chromebook 11 G7 EE, 11 G6 EE, 11A G6, and Chromebook X360 11 G1 EE. These are thin-chassis education Chromebooks that ship with a flat Li-Polymer pack — not a cylindrical cell. Swap is needed when the original cell degrades below functional capacity or fails to hold charge entirely.
- Cross-model fit — G6 and G7 EE series: HP used the same 7.7V power rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol across the G6 EE, G7 EE, 11A G6, and X360 11 G1 EE chassis. Part numbers GM02XL, HSTNN-DB7X, and TPN-Q185 all reference the same physical and electrical specification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on a G7 EE unit. The BMS accepted the new cell without tripping fault flags, reached full charge voltage at 8.68V, and the EC reported cell status correctly after one calibration cycle.
- Post-swap calibration on ChromeOS: After installing, let the Chromebook discharge to auto-hibernation, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. This forces the fuel gauge IC to re-learn the new cell's actual capacity curve and clears the inaccurate health warning ChromeOS logs after every cell replacement.
Why the Chromebook 11 G7 EE reports "Battery health poor" after a cell swap
The GM02XL battery stores its factory health data in an EEPROM on the protection board. When ChromeOS reads this data from a new cell, it compares the logged cycle count and Wh rating against expected values — and flags a mismatch as poor health. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Running one complete discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge rewrites the fuel gauge IC's learned parameters and clears the warning. After two to three full cycles, the reported health status normalises.
Chromebook shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the cell voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold under combined CPU and display load — even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. The gauge's state-of-charge map hasn't been calibrated to the new cell yet, so it misreads the voltage cliff. The fix is a full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a complete charge cycle with the lid closed and no active tasks. After two calibration cycles, the cutoff point aligns with the displayed percentage, and the shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
ChromeOS is showing the wrong Wh rating in the battery settings after I swapped the GM02XL — is the cell actually smaller than advertised?
The Wh value ChromeOS displays pulls from EEPROM data embedded in the battery's protection circuit, not from live measurement. A freshly installed cell carries factory-rated EEPROM values that may differ slightly from the actual chemistry capacity of the replacement. This is a data mismatch, not an undersized cell. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate and charge-to-100% cycles — the fuel gauge IC recalibrates against real cell behaviour and the displayed Wh value corrects itself.
The new battery charges up to 80% and then stops — the charging indicator disappears completely.
HP Chromebooks include a BIOS-level charge limit that activates when the device detects a battery has been stationary or plugged in continuously. This is firmware behaviour, not a fault with the replacement cell. Go to the Chromebook's battery settings and confirm "Adaptive charging" or any charge-limit mode is not enabled. If the cap persists, perform a full EC reset: shut down, hold Refresh + Power for ten seconds, then reconnect the charger — this clears the firmware charge-limit latch and allows the cell to reach 100%.
The fuel gauge is jumping around — showing 60%, then 45%, then 70% within a few minutes of unplugging.
The fuel gauge IC on this platform uses a learned discharge curve to estimate state-of-charge. A new cell has no prior cycle data, so the IC interpolates against the old cell's map and produces erratic readings. This is normal for the first two to three cycles after a GM02XL replacement. Discharge the Chromebook fully until it hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100% twice — the IC maps the new cell's voltage curve and the gauge stabilises to within a few percentage points of accurate.
