Fits HP DSJ-A6x body camera; replaces OEM battery HY123235.
3.7V, 1500mAh lithium-polymer cell powers extended shift recording without mid-incident cutoff.
Connector slides straight into DSJ-A6x battery slot with positive contact alignment; no locking tab.
We bench-tested this cell with continuous video recording and WiFi upload; BMS held steady under sustained combined draw.
After installing the new battery, power on the camera and confirm ready status appears before starting shift — the DSJ-A6x runs a firmware self-check on boot that validates battery acceptance.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP DSJ-A6x — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (HY123235)

This is a 3.7V, 1500mAh lithium-polymer replacement battery for the HP DSJ-A6x body camera. It replaces part number HY123235 and fits the compact wearable camera used for on-shift video and audio recording. Swap it in when the original cell no longer holds enough charge to complete a full shift.

  • DSJ-A6x platform fit: The HY123235 cell runs a single-cell 3.7V rail with a thin-profile lithium-polymer pack at 37.00 × 31.30 × 11.80mm. The BMS handshake on the A6x checks cell voltage at power-on — the replacement cell must present within the camera's accepted range for the device to boot into ready status.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through repeated power-on self-checks on the DSJ-A6x platform. The BMS accepted the cell on first boot without requiring a forced re-initialisation, and the camera reached ready status normally on each cycle.
  • Post-install power-on check: After fitting this battery, power the camera on and wait for the ready status indicator before starting a shift. The DSJ-A6x runs a self-check on every cold boot — if the cell voltage sits low from storage, the camera may flag a warning. A full charge before first use clears this.

Recording cutting out mid-incident on the DSJ-A6x

The DSJ-A6x pulls simultaneous load from the video encoder, microphone, and — when active — a WiFi or cellular upload process. Under that combined draw, the BMS protection circuit can trip if cell voltage sags below the low-voltage cutoff threshold. This looks like a sudden recording stop with no warning, even when the battery indicator showed sufficient charge moments before. The cell wasn't necessarily depleted — the BMS cut output to protect the cell under instantaneous peak draw. Disable background WiFi upload during active recording to reduce sustained current draw and prevent the trip.

Battery indicator showing low immediately after fitting a new cell

Lithium-polymer cells ship in a partial state of charge — typically 40–60% — for transport safety compliance. The DSJ-A6x reads cell voltage to estimate charge level, so a freshly installed cell at storage charge will correctly show as low. This is not a faulty battery. Charge the camera fully before the first shift; the indicator should read full at approximately 4.2V across the cell terminals.

Frequently Asked Questions

My HP DSJ-A6x won't start recording after I swapped the battery — the camera powers on but stays stuck before ready status. What's wrong?

The DSJ-A6x runs a firmware self-check on every cold boot and will hold before ready status if it doesn't receive a clean signal from the new battery's BMS. This usually happens when the replacement cell arrives at a low storage charge and the camera reads it as borderline. Charge the battery fully first, then power cycle the camera — it should clear the self-check and reach ready status normally at a full cell voltage near 4.2V.

The DSJ-A6x gets noticeably warm during long recording sessions and then stops recording. Is the battery causing this?

Heat during extended recording comes from the combined load of video processing and the cellular or WiFi radio running simultaneously — not the battery alone. When the internal temperature rises, the BMS can trip as a protective measure, cutting power to the cell and halting recording. The fix is to disable WiFi upload while actively recording, which drops sustained current draw and keeps temperatures lower. If the camera still cuts out, check that the vent area on the housing isn't obstructed during wear.

The new battery drains much faster than expected when recording at high resolution with WiFi on. Is the cell undersized?

High-resolution video encoding plus simultaneous WiFi upload is a high sustained current draw for a 1500mAh cell — this is the same capacity as the original HP HY123235, so the drain rate is normal for this camera at full load. The DSJ-A6x was not designed for continuous high-resolution recording with live upload running at the same time. Switch WiFi sync to post-shift upload mode, and the single-cell 3.7V pack will last significantly longer per charge cycle.
