  • ENVY x2 12-series fitment: The g000, g003nx, g003nc, and 12-E011NR variants all share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — one cell covers the full range without hardware modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an ENVY x2 12 unit. The BMS negotiated correctly, charge current stepped down at the expected threshold, and the fuel gauge IC began tracking state-of-charge without error flags after two full cycles.
  • Post-swap calibration on the ENVY x2: After installation, run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. BIOS reporting battery health as "Poor" immediately after replacement

The HP ENVY x2 stores battery health data in EEPROM on the old cell. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS compares its learned charge profile against data that no longer matches, and flags health as poor or unknown. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is a calibration gap. Run one full discharge to hibernate, then a full uninterrupted charge to 100%, and the BIOS learn cycle will overwrite the stale EEPROM reference. This happens when the fuel gauge IC's state-of-charge map drifts out of alignment with the actual cell voltage curve — common after a cell swap. The tablet hits a voltage cliff under combined CPU and display load before the displayed percentage reaches zero. The fix is the same calibration cycle: discharge fully to hibernate cutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption. Check that the cell reads above 11.1V at rest after a full charge before assuming a fault.

HP ENVY x2 12 shows "0% available (plugged in, charging)" and never moves — what's happening?

The fuel gauge IC loses its calibration reference when the old cell is removed, and the BIOS can report 0% or a frozen percentage until it re-establishes a baseline. Plug in the charger, leave it connected for a full uninterrupted charge session, then discharge completely to hibernate. One full cycle is usually enough for the gauge to start tracking correctly. If the percentage still freezes after two full cycles, check that the battery connector is fully seated — a partial connection on the ENVY x2's flat flex connector causes the same symptom.

New battery only charges to 80% on the HP ENVY x2 — is the cell faulty?

The ENVY x2 BIOS includes a firmware-controlled charge limit that caps charging at 80% when Battery Care Mode is active. This is a BIOS setting, not a cell fault. Open HP Support Assistant or go to BIOS setup (F10 at boot), find Battery Care Mode or Adaptive Battery Optimizer, and disable it. After turning it off, the cell will charge to 100% on the next charge cycle.

System info on the ENVY x2 shows the wrong Wh rating — it says 45Wh but the battery is rated 47.93Wh. Is this the wrong part?

The Wh figure shown in Windows Device Manager or HP Support Assistant pulls from EEPROM data embedded in the battery firmware, which is sometimes rounded or set to the design-rated value rather than the actual measured capacity. The cell is correct for this platform — CR03XL is the right part number. The 47.93Wh figure is the accurate rated capacity for this cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate and full recharge cycle; some BIOS versions update the displayed value once the learn cycle completes.
