Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP Pavilion PC 15 — 7.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (BP02XL)
This is a 7.7V, 5300mAh (40.81Wh) lithium-polymer replacement battery for the HP Pavilion 15 and Pavilion 15 Touch notebook series. It fits the full Pavilion PC 15 range, including the 15-AU010WM, 15-AU018WM, and over 200 additional sub-models sharing the BP02XL form factor. OEM part numbers include HSTNN-UB7B, TPN-Q172, TPN-Q175, and 849569-421.
- Pavilion 15 series compatibility: These models share a unified battery bay dimension, the same 7.7V two-cell Li-Polymer voltage rail, and an identical SMBus BMS handshake. Any sub-model pulling the BP02XL OEM number will seat and communicate correctly with this cell.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Pavilion 15-AU unit and cycled it through charge, full-load discharge, and thermal monitoring. The BMS negotiated correctly with the EC firmware, held stable voltage under CPU and display load, and triggered hibernation-cutoff at the expected threshold.
- First-cycle reset on Pavilion 15: After installing, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on this platform.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor after installing a new BP02XL
The HP Pavilion 15 EC reads health data from an EEPROM register carried over from the previous cell. When a new cell arrives with a fresh cycle count, the BIOS compares it against the old register and flags a mismatch as poor health. This is a firmware read error, not a fault with the replacement cell. Run the HP Battery Check utility after completing one full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted charge cycle. Most units clear the warning automatically once the BIOS completes its learn cycle and overwrites the stale EEPROM values.
Pavilion 15 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This is a voltage cliff symptom, not a calibration issue. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops faster than the fuel gauge IC can track, and the laptop hits the EC low-voltage cutoff before the percentage reaches zero. It typically appears when the old cell's EEPROM discharge curve is still loaded into the fuel gauge IC. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by uninterrupted charges to 100%. After the second cycle, the fuel gauge IC recalibrates its discharge model against the new cell chemistry and the early shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
The HP battery health meter shows 0% or "unknown" right after I put in the new battery — is something wrong with the cell?
Nothing is wrong with the cell. The HP Pavilion 15 fuel gauge IC is still reading the EEPROM data table from the old battery, which no longer matches the new cell's charge state. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single cycle forces the EC to overwrite the stale EEPROM values and the gauge will read correctly.
My Pavilion 15 shows 41Wh in system info but Windows reports a different design capacity — which number is right?
The 40.81Wh figure in the hardware spec is the actual cell chemistry rating. Windows pulls its design capacity from a separate EEPROM register that may still hold the rated value from the previous battery's firmware data, which can differ slightly. The discrepancy is a display artefact from the EEPROM mismatch, not a sign the new cell is underspecified. After two full charge-discharge calibration cycles, the reported figure in Windows Battery Report will converge toward the actual cell capacity.
The new battery charges to about 80% and stops — is the charger or the battery at fault?
Neither. The HP Pavilion 15 BIOS includes a Battery Care Mode or Adaptive Charging setting that deliberately caps charge at 80% to reduce cell stress. Check HP Support Assistant or the BIOS power settings under the F10 menu and confirm the charge limit is set to 100%. Once you disable the charge cap, the battery will charge to full without any change to the cell or charger.
