Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Latitude E7470 / E7270 — 11.1V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (PDNM2)
This is an 11.1V, 3300mAh (36.63Wh) lithium-polymer battery for the Dell Latitude E7470 and E7270 series. It replaces OEM part numbers PDNM2, 579TY, F1KTM, 7CJRC, and 21X15. It fits the standard battery bay with the original connector and BMS pinout.
- E7470 and E7270 platform fit: Both the E7470 and E7270 run the same 11.1V battery rail and share the same physical housing, connector, and BMS handshake protocol. One cell covers both models without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on an E7470 under sustained CPU and display load. The BMS held stable voltage through the discharge curve and handed off cleanly to AC when plugged in. No false low-battery shutdowns occurred during testing.
- Post-install calibration on Dell Latitude: After fitting, run the laptop on battery until it reaches hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This forces the BIOS battery learn cycle to complete against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every battery swap.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after replacement
Dell's BIOS reads health data from the battery's EEPROM, which stores charge history from the previous cell. When a new cell is installed, that EEPROM data does not match the new cell's actual state, so the BIOS flags it as degraded before any cycles have run. This is not a fault with the replacement cell. Run one full discharge-to-hibernate cycle followed by an uninterrupted full charge. After that cycle completes, the BIOS health indicator resets to reflect the new cell accurately.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% battery remaining after swap
The fuel gauge IC calibrates its remaining-capacity estimates against charge and discharge data collected over multiple cycles. On a fresh cell, those estimates are pulled from the old cell's profile and are often wrong under real load. When the CPU and display spike simultaneously, actual cell voltage drops faster than the gauge predicts, and the system hits the low-voltage cutoff while still showing 20–30% on screen. Run two to three full discharge-to-hibernate and full-charge cycles. By the third cycle the fuel gauge IC has enough data to track the new cell's voltage curve accurately, and early shutdowns stop.

Frequently Asked Questions
Dell BIOS shows my new battery as 0% health — is the replacement cell faulty?
It is not a faulty cell. Dell's BIOS pulls health data from the battery's EEPROM, which still holds the old cell's wear history at the point of swap. Until the BIOS runs a full learn cycle against the new cell, it reports that stale data as poor health. Discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% in one session. After that cycle, re-check the BIOS — the health reading will reflect the new cell.
My E7470 shows 36Wh in Dell Power Manager but the battery spec says 36.63Wh — is something wrong?
Nothing is wrong. The Wh figure shown in Dell Power Manager is read from the EEPROM's rated design capacity field, which rounds to the nearest whole number. The actual chemistry in this cell delivers 36.63Wh measured on the bench. The small discrepancy is a display rounding artefact, not a sign that the cell is under-spec or incorrectly programmed.
Charging stops at 80% and won't go higher — is this a battery fault or a BIOS setting?
This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a cell fault. Dell ships many Latitude units with a battery charge threshold active in the BIOS to reduce long-term cell stress during always-plugged-in use. To check, go to BIOS setup on boot, navigate to Power Management, and look for "Battery Charge Configuration" or "Primary AC Use" mode. Set it to "Primarily AC" off or "Standard" to allow charging to 100%.
