Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

HP ProBook 4510s / 4710s / 4720s — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (HSTNN-IB88)
This 14.4V Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the HP ProBook 4510s, 4515s, 4710s, and 4720s business laptops. It runs at 4400mAh (63.36Wh) and mates to the same connector and BMS handshake points as the factory pack. If your original HSTNN-IB88 or 572032-001 pack no longer holds a charge, this is the direct swap.
- ProBook 4510s / 4515s / 4710s / 4720s compatibility: These four models share the same 14.4V power rail, identical dock connector pinout, and the same BMS communication protocol over the SMBus line — which is why a single cell works across all of them without firmware conflict.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack on a ProBook 4510s and logged the BMS charge and discharge behaviour. The protection circuit handled full-load CPU and display draw without tripping, and charge termination fired correctly at 16.8V cell peak.
- Post-install calibration on ProBook units: After fitting this cell, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff on battery power alone, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This one full cycle resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that almost always appears after a cell swap on ProBook hardware.
BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after installation
The HP ProBook BIOS reads health data from the battery's EEPROM on first contact. The new cell ships with factory EEPROM values that do not match the usage history the BIOS expects to see, so it flags the pack as degraded or unknown — even though the cell is fresh. This is a data mismatch, not a battery fault. Running a full discharge-to-hibernate followed by a full uninterrupted charge forces the BIOS to rewrite its internal battery learn table against the new cell's actual capacity curve. After that single calibration cycle, the health warning clears on most ProBook 4510s and 4720s units.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% remaining after the battery swap
This happens because the fuel gauge IC is still using the old cell's voltage-to-capacity curve to estimate remaining charge. The new cell has a steeper voltage cliff under full CPU and display load, so the laptop hits its hardware cutoff voltage while the OS is still showing 20–30% on screen. It is a calibration gap, not a defective pack. Run two or three full discharge cycles — down to hibernate cutoff each time, then charge to 100% — and the fuel gauge IC will re-map its curve against the new cell. After calibration, the reported percentage and actual cutoff align within a few percent.

Frequently Asked Questions
HP BIOS shows this battery as "unknown" or gives a "consider replacing your battery" warning right after I fitted it — is the cell actually bad?
The cell is not bad. The ProBook BIOS pulls health data from the battery's EEPROM on first connection, and a new pack ships with factory values that do not match the usage history the BIOS expects. Run one full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single learn cycle rewrites the BIOS battery table against the new cell and clears the warning on ProBook 4510s and 4720s units.
Windows is showing a completely different Wh rating for this battery than what's listed on the product page — why does the system info disagree?
The Wh figure Windows displays is read from the battery's EEPROM, which stores the manufacturer's rated design capacity. The cell we ship is rated at 63.36Wh, but the EEPROM value and the OS calculation can differ slightly depending on which firmware revision your ProBook is running and how it converts the raw cell data. This is a reporting difference between EEPROM-stored values and actual chemistry — it does not affect charge or discharge behaviour. Check the actual charge percentage and cycle count in HP Support Assistant rather than relying on the Wh figure in Device Manager.
The new battery charges fine but the ProBook 4510s shuts down hard without warning — no low-battery notification, just an instant power-off
This is a voltage cliff issue. The fuel gauge IC has not yet mapped the new cell's discharge curve, so it underestimates how close to cutoff the pack actually is. The laptop hits hardware minimum voltage — roughly 11.1V at the cell level — before the OS has any chance to trigger a low-battery alert. Run two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles followed by a full charge to 100% each time. After two calibration cycles the fuel gauge IC builds an accurate curve and the OS notification fires at the correct threshold again.
