Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Dell Vostro 3400 / 3500 / 3700 — 11.1V Li-ion Replacement Battery (04D3C)
This is an 11.1V, 4400mAh (48.84Wh) lithium-ion battery for the Dell Vostro 3400, 3500, and 3700 laptops. It replaces OEM part numbers 04D3C, 04GN0G, 0TXWRR, 312-0997, 312-0998, JK6R, 7FJ92, CYDWV, Y5XF9, and TY3P4. Use it when the original cell no longer holds adequate charge or fails to register in the BIOS.
- Vostro 3400 / 3500 / 3700 fit: All three models share the same 11.1V three-cell battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The same EEPROM data structure is read by each platform's EC firmware, so the cell registers correctly across the series without any hardware modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a Vostro 3400 under combined CPU and display load. The BMS held stable voltage throughout the discharge curve and communicated accurate state-of-charge data back to the system. No false low-battery shutdowns occurred during testing.
- BIOS learn cycle after install: After fitting this battery, run a full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on the Vostro platform.
Laptop shutting down at 20–30% remaining after battery swap
After a cell replacement, the Vostro's fuel gauge IC still references calibration data from the old battery. Under combined CPU stress and full display brightness, the new cell's actual voltage drops faster than the IC predicts. The firmware interprets the sudden voltage sag as a critical low-battery condition and forces an immediate shutdown — even though the display shows 20–30% remaining. Two full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted charge cycles recalibrate the IC against the new cell's chemistry. After calibration, the shutdown threshold should realign to the correct cutoff near 5–8% state-of-charge.
BIOS reporting battery Wh as incorrect after fitting a new cell
The Wh value shown in Dell's BIOS battery information screen is read from EEPROM data embedded in the battery pack's fuel gauge IC, not calculated in real time from cell voltage. A freshly manufactured replacement cell ships with EEPROM values set at the factory, which may differ slightly from the rated 48.84Wh shown in Dell's original system records. This is a data mismatch, not a capacity fault. The reported Wh figure will self-correct after two full calibration cycles as the fuel gauge IC updates its internal register against measured charge throughput.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Vostro 3400 shows the new battery as "Unknown" or 0% in Windows — what went wrong?
The Windows fuel gauge is reading stale EEPROM data from the old cell's register, and the new cell hasn't completed a learn cycle yet. This is normal on the Vostro platform immediately after a cell swap. Run a full discharge to the point where the laptop hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one complete cycle, the EC firmware rewrites the state-of-charge register and Windows reports the correct percentage.
The replacement battery stopped charging at 80% and won't go higher — is the cell faulty?
Not a cell fault. Dell's BIOS includes a firmware-controlled charge limit that caps charging at 80% when "Primary AC Use" or a similar battery health mode is enabled in Dell Power Manager or BIOS settings. Open Dell Power Manager, navigate to Battery Settings, and switch the charge mode from "Primarily AC" to "Full Charge." The battery will then charge to 100% on the next cycle.
After installing this battery, the BIOS health screen shows "Poor" even though the cell is brand new — should I return it?
No return needed. The Vostro BIOS reads health status from the fuel gauge IC's cycle-count and capacity registers, which are pre-loaded at manufacture and don't yet reflect real-world charge history on your specific unit. Run the battery learn cycle: discharge fully to hibernate-cutoff, then charge to 100% without interruption. After one to two full cycles, the BIOS recalculates health against actual measured capacity and the "Poor" warning clears.
