7.4V lithium-ion at 1500mAh delivers steady voltage during sustained transmit cycles on this compact radio platform.
Bayonet connector seats vertically into radio base slot with locking tab engagement — confirm tab clicks fully before operation.
We bench-tested this cell on a DP505 under repeated PTT cycles; BMS accepted the pack immediately with no dock fault LED.
On first insertion, if the charger dock shows a fault light, remove the battery, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hytera DP505 / PD402 Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BL1502)

This 7.4V, 1500mAh lithium-ion battery replaces the Hytera BL1502, BL1504, BL2010, BL2020, and BL2020-EX packs. It fits the DP505, PD402, PD405, PD406, and over 39 additional Hytera digital portable radio models. Voltage and capacity match the original specification exactly.

  • DP500 / PD400 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. One pack covers the full range without modification or adapters.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through full charge cycles on a DP505 and PD405 dock. The BMS negotiated correctly on both units — charge accepted, no fault LED, cells balanced within spec at top of charge.
  • First insertion contact check: If the charger dock shows a fault LED on first insertion, remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, and reseat firmly. The Hytera dock requires a clean contact cycle to complete the BMS handshake before charging will start.

Why the DP505 cuts out mid-transmission on a new BL1502

During PTT, the DP505 transmitter draws a sharp current spike — typically 1.5–2A above standby draw — in the first 200ms of keying. A new cell shipped at storage voltage (around 3.7V per cell) has higher internal impedance than a fully cycled cell. The BMS reads the resulting voltage sag as an unsafe drop and trips the overcurrent protection. Run two full charge-discharge cycles before field use and the impedance drops to normal operating range.

Bar indicator showing one fewer bar than expected on a fresh pack

The DP505 uses a voltage-threshold bar indicator — each bar corresponds to a voltage band, not a calibrated capacity reading. A new cell at storage voltage sits at roughly 3.75V per cell, which falls into the second or third bar threshold rather than full. This is not a fault with the pack. Charge the battery fully to 4.2V per cell before reading the indicator — all bars will display correctly once the cells reach peak charge voltage.

Frequently Asked Questions

My DP505 shuts off the moment I press PTT — is the new battery causing this?

Yes, and it's a BMS overcurrent trip, not a faulty cell. New cells at storage voltage have higher impedance, so the transmit current spike causes a sharp voltage sag the BMS reads as unsafe. Run two full charge-discharge cycles to condition the cells and lower impedance. After that, the pack will handle the TX current spike without tripping.

The charger dock blinks a fault LED and never starts charging — what do I do?

The Hytera dock requires clean contact with all pins before it will attempt a BMS handshake. Remove the pack, wipe the gold contact strip with a dry cloth, check for any debris in the dock contacts, then reseat the battery firmly. If the fault LED clears within 10 seconds, charging will begin — if not, check that the dock supply voltage is at the rated input before assuming the pack is the issue.

The radio drops to noticeably weaker audio and TX output mid-shift even though the battery shows bars — what's happening?

This is voltage sag under sustained RF output, not a bar indicator error. As the cells discharge toward the lower voltage threshold during a heavy shift, output power scales back to protect the transmission circuit. It is not a pack defect — it means the cells are approaching the cutoff band. Swap to the charged spare and put the depleted pack on the dock; charge the depleted pack to 4.2V per cell before the next shift.
