Fits Ikasumoto M-288 cordless vacuum; replaces OEM battery pack for this handheld model.
14.4V, 4000mAh Ni-MH pack delivers 57.6Wh — sustains motor performance on restricted filter loads.
Connector type and locking tab match M-288 dock contacts; slides in without modification.
Bench test confirmed BMS accepts standard dock charger handshake; no firmware reset needed.
Remove from dock immediately after full charge — continuous trickle charging degrades Ni-MH capacity permanently.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Ikasumoto M-288 — 14.4V Ni-MH Replacement Battery

This is a 14.4V, 4000mAh Ni-MH battery pack built as a replacement for the Ikasumoto M-288 cordless vacuum cleaner. It slots into the M-288 and restores power to the motor when the original pack has lost capacity through repeated charge cycles. Voltage and cell count match the original pack specification.

  • M-288 platform fit: The M-288 runs a 14.4V Ni-MH architecture with a fixed connector and BMS that expects a specific cell count and voltage curve. This pack uses the same sub-C cell configuration and discharge profile, so the vacuum's electronics read it correctly without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a 14.4V Ni-MH tester. The BMS accepted charge without fault, and the cell balance across the pack stayed within 20mV at full charge — consistent with factory-spec behaviour.
  • Dock charging habit on the M-288: Do not leave the M-288 sitting on the charging dock between uses. Ni-MH cells on continuous trickle charge develop capacity fade faster than cells charged only when depleted. Charge to full, then remove the vacuum from the dock.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low on the M-288

The M-288 motor draws significantly more current when the filter is partially blocked or the intake is restricted. That higher draw causes the cell voltage to sag under load, even when the pack is reading near full. The vacuum's control board interprets the voltage sag as a motor demand it can't meet and reduces power before the indicator triggers. Clean the filter and check the intake path first — if suction recovers immediately, the pack is fine and the restriction was the cause.

Motor cutting out mid-use and then recovering after a short pause

This pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a cell failure. When the motor encounters sustained restriction — a dense carpet pile, a blocked nozzle, or a clogged filter — current draw spikes past the BMS threshold and the pack cuts output to protect the cells. After a brief rest, the BMS resets and the motor runs again. Clear the restriction, then check pack voltage with a multimeter: a healthy 14.4V Ni-MH pack at rest should read at or above 14.4V after a full charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

The M-288 loses suction well before the battery light comes on — is this a weak battery or something else?

A partially clogged filter is the most common cause. When airflow is restricted, the motor works harder and draws more current than rated, which causes cell voltage to sag under load — the vacuum loses power even though the pack isn't depleted. Clean the filter and clear the intake, then run the vacuum again. If suction stays strong after that, the pack is working correctly and the filter was the problem.

My M-288 cuts out after a few minutes on thick carpet, then starts again after I wait — what's happening?

That's a BMS overcurrent trip. Heavy carpet puts sustained load on the motor, current spikes past the BMS protection threshold, and the pack shuts output to protect the cells. After a short rest the BMS resets and allows power again. The fix is to clear any filter restriction first, then check whether the issue repeats on hard floor — if it only happens on carpet, the motor and pack are both working as intended and the load is the trigger.

This replacement pack charges but the M-288's runtime feels noticeably shorter than it used to — what causes that?

Ni-MH cells degrade faster when left on a continuous dock charge between uses. If the previous owner or you regularly left the M-288 docked permanently, the original pack likely had significant capacity fade before it was replaced — and the habit will affect a new pack the same way. Remove the vacuum from the dock as soon as it reaches full charge. A fully charged 14.4V Ni-MH pack should read 16.8V–17.5V at the terminals; if it reads below 15V immediately after a full charge cycle, the charger or dock connection may not be delivering a complete charge.
