Fits IQ America VD-8810 video doorbell camera; replaces OEM part H-AAAJ3.
3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH cell delivers steady voltage for continuous camera operation and motion detection without sag.
Connector orientation matches original battery slot; tab alignment prevents reverse insertion into the doorbell housing.
We bench-tested this cell in the VD-8810 platform; BMS accepted the pack without fault codes on first insertion.
After install, power cycle the doorbell once through the app — firmware must re-register the new cell before motion recording logs correctly to cloud.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

IQ America VD-8810 — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery (H-AAAJ3)

This is a 3.6V 700mAh Ni-MH replacement battery for the IQ America VD-8810 wireless video doorbell. It matches the original H-AAAJ3 cell in voltage, chemistry, and form factor. When the factory battery degrades, this swap restores the camera module to full operation without replacing the entire doorbell unit.

  • VD-8810 platform fit: The VD-8810 runs its camera module, IR LEDs, and RF transmitter from a single 3.6V Ni-MH cell. That shared voltage rail means chemistry matters — substituting a Li-ion cell at a higher nominal voltage will overstress the onboard regulation circuit.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through motion-trigger sequences and confirmed the BMS holds stable across the combined current draw of the processor waking, the IR LEDs firing, and the RF module transmitting simultaneously.
  • First-install power cycle on the VD-8810: After fitting the new cell, press the doorbell button once to wake the unit fully, then allow the firmware to complete one full wake-sleep cycle before testing motion recording. Skipping this step can leave the motion log misaligned with the new cell's charge state.

Camera going offline in the app after battery swap on the VD-8810

Replacing the battery cuts power to the VD-8810's wireless module, which drops the active session token the app holds. The camera comes back online at the hardware level, but the app doesn't automatically re-establish the authenticated link. Open the app, navigate to the device list, and manually trigger a reconnect or re-register the doorbell. If the unit still shows offline, confirm the cell voltage has recovered above 3.2V — below that, the RF transmitter won't sustain a stable connection.

App reporting 0% or no charge indicator after fitting the H-AAAJ3

The VD-8810 uses a voltage-threshold indicator, not a fuel gauge IC. It reads charge state by comparing cell voltage against fixed thresholds — not by tracking charge in and out. A freshly installed cell sitting at mid-state-of-charge can read as 0% until the firmware samples voltage after a complete charge and discharge pass. Charge the unit fully through its normal dock or adapter, let it run through one motion-triggered wake cycle, and the percentage will update to reflect the actual cell state.

Frequently Asked Questions

My VD-8810 stops recording mid-clip even though the battery shows charged — what's causing it?

The most likely cause is a WiFi reconnect current spike. When the doorbell's wireless module briefly drops signal and re-authenticates mid-recording, the combined draw of the RF transmitter plus the active camera module can exceed the BMS threshold and trip a cutoff. Move the doorbell closer to the router or add a WiFi extender within range of the unit. If the problem persists, check that the cell voltage holds above 3.2V under load — a cell that reads charged at rest but sags under spike draw needs replacing.

Night vision stops working after a few hours of darkness — camera stays on but IR LEDs go out.

The IR LEDs on the VD-8810 draw sustained current throughout low-light operation, which is a heavier load than the brief spikes from motion events. If the cell has partial capacity fade, the BMS shuts off the IR LED circuit first to protect the processor — the camera stays active but night vision drops out. Check the cell voltage after a full charge; a healthy 3.6V Ni-MH cell should sit at or above 3.9V fully charged. If voltage is low after a full charge cycle, the cell is degraded and the H-AAAJ3 replacement resolves it.

Motion detection stops triggering notifications after the battery replacement — live view still works fine.

This is a firmware registration issue, not a hardware fault. The VD-8810's motion log ties trigger events to the active session, and a battery swap resets that session. Live view works because it's a manual pull from the app, but motion alerts depend on the camera pushing events — which requires a re-registered session. Open the doorbell app, remove the VD-8810 from the device list, and re-add it. Once re-registered, trigger one manual motion event and confirm the notification arrives before relying on it for monitoring.
