Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Optex Wireless Two-Way Intercom System / iVision-L — 3.6V Ni-MH Replacement Battery
This is a 3.6V, 700mAh Ni-MH rechargeable battery for the Optex Wireless Two-Way Intercom System and iVision-L. It slots into the intercom handset or base unit and restores two-way voice communication between stations. Use the capacity figure from the product data — 700mAh — as your reference when comparing to the original cell.
- Wireless Two-Way Intercom / iVision-L fit: Both models share the same 3.6V Ni-MH cell format, connector orientation, and BMS handshake voltage. One battery covers either unit without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the intercom platform. The BMS accepted the cell cleanly, voltage held at 3.6V nominal across the communication circuit, and no false low-battery flags triggered during the test cycle.
- Ni-MH reconditioning on the Optex platform: Ni-MH cells in these intercom units are prone to voltage depression if they sit discharged for extended periods. After fitting a replacement, run at least two full charge-discharge cycles before judging capacity — the cell's internal resistance drops measurably after the second cycle on this platform.
Why the Optex intercom drops to low-battery warning immediately after a fresh charge
The Optex intercom reads battery state using a voltage-threshold indicator, not a fuel gauge IC. A new or recently replaced Ni-MH cell can sit at a suppressed resting voltage — typically below 3.4V — if it has not been cycled. The unit reads that suppressed voltage and flags low battery even when the cell is physically full. Running one complete charge-discharge cycle raises the resting voltage above the platform's detection threshold and clears the false warning.
Intercom station goes silent after battery swap — no audio, no response on press
When the cell is swapped while the unit retains residual power, the firmware can lose its session state and stop polling the RF link. The station appears powered but produces no audio and ignores button presses from the paired unit. Remove the battery, wait 30 seconds to let the capacitors fully drain, then reinsert and power on. This forces a clean firmware restart and re-establishes the RF handshake at the correct 3.6V rail.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Optex intercom shows low battery again within a day of fitting the new cell — what's causing that?
The intercom uses a voltage-threshold indicator, so it reads the cell's resting voltage directly. A new Ni-MH cell that hasn't been cycled often rests below 3.4V, which the unit reads as low even when the cell is fully charged. Run two complete charge-discharge cycles on the unit. After the second cycle, resting voltage stabilises above the detection threshold and the false low-battery flag clears.
The paired station stopped responding after I swapped the battery — it powers on but pressing the call button does nothing.
This is a firmware session loss. When the cell is changed with residual charge still present, the unit's RF pairing state doesn't reset cleanly, and it stops polling for the paired station. Pull the battery out, wait 30 seconds for the board to fully discharge, then reinsert it. The firmware restarts from scratch, re-establishes the RF link, and the call button responds normally.
My Optex intercom battery drains much faster in winter — is the cell faulty?
Ni-MH cells lose available capacity in cold environments because low temperatures increase internal resistance, which causes voltage to sag earlier under the transmit current load. The unit hits its low-voltage cutoff sooner and shuts down, even though the cell isn't actually depleted. This isn't a fault with the replacement cell. Keep the intercom unit indoors or in a draught-free location where ambient temperature stays above 10°C, and the rated 700mAh capacity will be available through the full discharge cycle.
