Fits iRobot Roomba i7, i7+, e5, and 7150 series; replaces OEM part ABL-D1, ABL-D2, ABL-D2B, and ABL-F.
14.4V 3400mAh lithium-ion delivers the voltage and capacity this motor demands under sustained carpet load without voltage sag.
Connector slides into the battery chamber with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed — only one way seats flush.
We bench-tested this cell on a Roomba i7 dock charge cycle; BMS accepted the handshake and held voltage stable under brush motor draw.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously — trickle charge degrades capacity faster than standard discharge-and-recharge cycles.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

iRobot Roomba i7 / i7+ / e5 Series — 14.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (ABL-D1)

This is a 14.4V 3400mAh (48.96Wh) lithium-ion battery for the iRobot Roomba i7, i7+, e5, and compatible models. It replaces OEM part numbers ABL-D1, ABL-D2, ABL-D2B, ABL-F, 4624864, and 4763362. It fits the motor drive and navigation systems in these robotic vacuums directly.

  • i7, i7+, and e5 platform fit: These models share the same 14.4V battery bay, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The i7+ adds automatic dirt disposal but draws from the same battery rail, so the same cell works across the range without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on the i7 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the robot's onboard charge controller — no error codes, no forced shutdowns, and the fuel gauge reported capacity accurately throughout the test.
  • Dock charging habit for this robot: Do not leave the Roomba sitting on its Home Base permanently between uses. Continuous trickle charging through the dock accelerates capacity fade in lithium cells. Charge the robot fully, then remove it from the dock until the next scheduled run.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor draws more current than the BMS expects — usually caused by a partially blocked filter or brush roll tangle. The BMS doesn't trip entirely, but it reduces output current to stay within safe limits, and suction falls noticeably. The battery indicator lags behind the real power state because it measures voltage, not available current. Clean the filter and check the brush roll first; if suction restores immediately, the battery is not the cause.

Motor cutting out mid-clean and then recovering after a few seconds

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a battery fault. When suction is sustained against a blockage or a clogged filter, current draw spikes past the BMS protection threshold and the cell disconnects briefly. The robot pauses, the BMS resets internally, and power restores — often within 5–10 seconds. Check the filter, intake path, and side brush housing for debris. If the cutout stops after clearing the blockage, the battery is functioning correctly; the trip voltage threshold on this cell is set around 12.0V under load.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Roomba i7 loses suction halfway through a clean but the battery light still shows full — is the battery failing?

Not necessarily. When the filter is partially blocked, the motor draws more current than normal and the BMS limits output to protect the cell — suction drops but the voltage indicator still reads high because the cell hasn't discharged. Pull out the filter, tap it clean or replace it, and run the robot again. If suction holds through the full cycle after that, the battery is fine.

The Roomba stops mid-run, sits still for a few seconds, then starts moving again — what's causing that?

That pause-and-recover pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip. A blockage in the intake path or a tangled brush roll forces the motor to draw more current than the BMS allows, so it disconnects the cell briefly and reconnects once the spike clears. Clear the brush roll, check the intake port for debris, and confirm the filter isn't packed. If the cutouts stop after clearing the blockage, the BMS is working as intended — no battery replacement needed.

The replacement battery charged fully but the Roomba's runtime is noticeably shorter than it was when the robot was new — is this a defective cell?

A partially clogged filter is the most common cause. When airflow is restricted, the motor works harder and pulls more current from the cell — the battery depletes faster even though capacity is unchanged. Clean or replace the filter, then run a full charge-to-depletion cycle to let the fuel gauge recalibrate. If runtime remains short after two full cycles with a clean filter, check that the robot isn't sitting on the dock continuously between uses, as that degrades cell capacity over time.
