Fits Hoover BH55210, BH53310, BH53350, and BH53420 cordless vacuums; replaces OEM part BH15030.
20V lithium-ion, 2000mAh capacity delivers consistent motor voltage through full cleaning cycles on hard floors and carpet.
Slide-lock connector seats flush into the battery bay; orientation is keyed, tab engagement prevents accidental ejection during use.
We bench-tested this cell on a BH55210 motor load—BMS held stable at 20V under sustained suction draw, no early shutoff observed.
Do not leave this battery on the charging dock continuously; trickle charge degrades capacity faster than removing the pack when fully charged.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Hoover BH55210 Series — 20V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BH15030)

This is a 20V 2000mAh Li-ion battery that replaces part number BH15030 in Hoover cordless stick vacuums. It fits the BH55210, BH53310, BH53350, BH53420, and over 30 additional Hoover models that share the same 20V battery platform. Capacity is 2000mAh (40Wh), matching the original specification.

  • BH55210 platform compatibility: These Hoover models share the same 20V battery rail, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The battery slides into the same dock port and communicates charge state to the vacuum's motor controller without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a BH55210 unit. The BMS responded correctly to motor-start current draw, held the voltage rail steady under load, and triggered protection cutoff at the expected low-voltage threshold.
  • Dock charging behaviour on this vacuum: Remove the battery from the charging dock once it reaches full charge. Hoover cordless vacuums left on the dock indefinitely receive a low-level trickle current that accelerates capacity fade in Li-ion cells. Charge when depleted, then disconnect.

Suction dropping before the battery indicator reaches low

This happens when the motor pulls more current than the battery's rated discharge ceiling — usually caused by a partially blocked filter or restricted airflow path. The voltage rail sags under that elevated draw, and the vacuum's motor controller reads it as a low-battery condition before the cell is actually depleted. Clean or replace the filter first. If suction recovers, the battery was never the problem. If the sag continues with a clean filter, the cell's internal resistance has increased and replacement is the correct fix.

Motor cutting out briefly then recovering mid-clean

This is a BMS overcurrent trip, not a dead battery. It triggers when sustained restricted suction — from a clogged filter or blockage — forces the motor to draw above the BMS overcurrent threshold. The BMS cuts power to protect the cell, then resets after a few seconds. Clear any blockage in the brush roll or hose, then check that the filter is clean. If the cutout stops after clearing the restriction, the battery is functioning correctly.

Frequently Asked Questions

My new Hoover BH55210 battery charges fully but the vacuum loses power halfway through cleaning — is that normal?

It is not normal, and a full charge reading does not rule out the cause. A partially blocked filter forces the motor to draw more current than rated, which sags the voltage rail and triggers an early low-power response even though the cell still has capacity. Clean or replace the filter and run the vacuum again. If runtime improves, the filter was the issue, not the battery.

The Hoover vacuum motor keeps cutting out for a few seconds then comes back on — what's causing that?

That pattern is a BMS overcurrent trip cycling on and off. When airflow is restricted — blocked brush roll, clogged filter, or a partial hose blockage — the motor draws above the BMS protection threshold and cuts power temporarily. The BMS resets automatically after a short interval, which is why suction returns. Clear the restriction first; if the cut-outs stop, the battery's protection circuit is working exactly as it should.

My Hoover cordless vacuum battery lost most of its capacity after a few months — what went wrong?

Continuous dock charging is the most common cause on these vacuums. Li-ion cells in the BH15030 platform degrade faster when held at full charge under a trickle current for days at a time. The fix going forward is to charge the battery only when it is depleted, then remove it from the dock once full. A cell that has already lost significant capacity through this pattern will not recover — replacement restores the original capacity level.
