Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

IWATSU DM-900A / DM-8000H — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery
This is a 14.8V, 6600mAh (97.68Wh) lithium-ion replacement battery for the IWATSU DM-900A and DM-8000H portable ultrasound systems. These are clinical diagnostic devices used in cardiovascular and general ultrasound imaging. If the original cell has degraded or failed, this battery restores the power supply to the unit.
- DM-900A and DM-8000H compatibility: Both models run the same 14.8V four-cell Li-ion architecture with identical connector pinout and BMS communication protocol. A single battery covers both units without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this battery through charge and load profiling at 14.8V nominal. The BMS responded correctly to charge termination signals and maintained stable voltage under sustained draw — no premature cutoff on initial cycles.
- Post-installation self-test protocol: After fitting this battery, allow the DM-900A or DM-8000H to complete its full power-on self-test cycle without interruption. Medical ultrasound systems run BMS verification at startup — cutting power mid-sequence triggers a false battery fault that persists until the next complete reboot.
Device not completing boot sequence after battery swap
The DM-900A runs a hardware self-test during boot that includes a BMS handshake. A freshly installed cell that has not yet completed one full charge-discharge cycle may report state-of-charge data that falls outside the device's expected OEM parameters. The system interprets this as a battery fault and halts the boot sequence before the imaging software loads. Run one full charge cycle to completion before powering the unit on for the first time post-swap.
Low battery alarm triggering immediately after a confirmed full charge
This happens when the BMS on the device is calibrated to OEM cell chemistry tolerances. A new replacement cell reports a resting voltage that the device reads as below the alarm threshold — typically under 14.4V at rest after a first charge — even though the cell itself is not depleted. One complete charge-discharge cycle recalibrates the state-of-charge register. After that first cycle, the alarm threshold is applied against accurate capacity data and the false alarm clears.

Frequently Asked Questions
The DM-900A shows a low battery warning the moment I turn it on, but the battery just finished charging — what's wrong?
A new Li-ion cell reports resting voltage slightly below what the IWATSU BMS expects from a conditioned OEM cell. The device reads that as a low state-of-charge and triggers the alarm even though the cell is full. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle — let the battery drain through normal use, then charge fully to 100%. After that cycle, the BMS reads accurate capacity data and the alarm clears.
The DM-8000H powered off mid-scan and now won't turn back on after I reinserted the battery — how do I recover it?
If the cell dropped below the BMS recovery threshold during storage or a deep discharge event, the protection circuit locks the battery in a sleep state and the device sees zero voltage on the pack. Connect the battery to the IWATSU charger and leave it undisturbed for at least 30 minutes — the charger applies a trickle pre-charge current that brings the cell voltage back above the BMS wake threshold, typically 12V. Once the charger confirms charge acceptance, proceed with a full charge cycle before powering the unit on.
The DM-900A completed boot and passed self-test, but it shuts off unexpectedly during imaging — is the battery faulty?
New cells have higher internal resistance in the first 10 cycles, which causes voltage sag under the sustained load of an active ultrasound scan. The device's under-voltage protection trips when the pack drops below the cutoff threshold during a high-draw imaging sequence — not because the cell is defective, but because it hasn't yet reached its rated capacity. Complete five to ten full charge-discharge cycles and the internal resistance drops, reducing voltage sag under load. If shutdowns persist beyond 10 cycles, check that the pack is reaching a full charge voltage of 16.8V before each session.
