Fits JAY-tech JayCam i6550 and JayCam Z630 digital cameras, replaces CS-NP40FU battery.
Voltage 3.7V, capacity 850mAh delivers sufficient energy for photo and video recording sessions on compact digital cameras.
Connector type matches OEM housing; orientation and locking tab align with camera battery door without modification.
We bench-tested this cell in the JayCam i6550 body; BMS accepted the pack on first insertion with correct voltage handshake.
On first use in the JayCam i6550, charge fully in the camera body before shooting — the camera firmware maps battery percentage to this cell's discharge curve during initial charge cycle.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JAY-tech JayCam i6550 / Z630 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery

This 3.7V Li-ion battery replaces the original cell in the JAY-tech JayCam i6550 and JayCam Z630 compact digital cameras. Capacity is 850mAh (3.15Wh), matching the stock specification. It fits the same battery bay and connector as the original without modification.

  • JayCam i6550 and Z630 compatibility: Both models share the same battery bay dimensions (40.20 × 35.30 × 6.10mm), voltage rail, and connector orientation — one cell covers both bodies.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the bench. The BMS held the 3.7V nominal rail steady across the discharge curve, with cutoff triggering cleanly before voltage collapsed.
  • First-use charge cycle on the JayCam body: After inserting this cell for the first time, run a full charge via the camera body or OEM charger before shooting. Some compact camera BMS systems need that first in-body charge cycle to map the new cell's discharge curve and report battery-remaining accurately.

Battery percentage jumping erratically on the JayCam display

The JayCam i6550 maps its battery indicator against voltage thresholds calibrated to the original cell's discharge curve. A new replacement cell may discharge slightly differently across that curve, causing the indicator to read 80% then jump to 40% with no warning. This is a display calibration issue, not a fault with the cell. Run one full charge-to-discharge cycle through the camera body and the indicator typically stabilises as the BMS recalibrates its threshold mapping.

Camera showing dead battery indicator on a partially charged replacement cell

If the JayCam body shows a dead or critically low battery symbol immediately after inserting a new cell, the BMS is reading resting voltage below its acceptance threshold — this can happen when a replacement cell has self-discharged in storage. Place the cell in the OEM charger until the charge indicator confirms a full charge, then reinsert. If the camera still rejects it, check the cell is seated fully against the connector — the i6550 bay requires firm pressure until the latch clicks. A fully charged cell should read at or above 4.1V at the terminals.

Frequently Asked Questions

My JayCam i6550 says "No Battery" even though the replacement is fully charged — what's wrong?

The i6550 performs a voltage-handshake check on insertion. If the cell rested in storage for a while, its open-circuit voltage may have dropped just below the camera's acceptance threshold even after a partial charge. Charge the cell to full in the OEM charger first, then insert it — the camera needs to see a voltage at or above 4.1V to pass that check. If the message persists, reseat the battery firmly until the bay latch clicks.

My shot count on the JayCam Z630 is noticeably lower than expected — is the cell faulty?

Shot count estimates assume light continuous use, but flash recycling on the Z630 draws a surge of current each cycle that adds significantly to total drain beyond the spec figure. Continuous autofocus, optical zoom motor movement, and LCD brightness all compound that draw further. The 850mAh capacity is correct — the shot count simply reflects real-world draw across all active subsystems, not flash-off static capture. Turn off the LCD review delay and reduce flash use to stretch capacity between charges.

The flash on my JayCam i6550 isn't fully recycling between shots — takes much longer than it used to. Why?

Flash recycling pulls a high burst of current to charge the capacitor, and that recharge time lengthens as cell voltage sags toward the lower end of the discharge curve. On the i6550, if you're seeing slow recycle times, the cell is likely near cutoff — check the battery indicator and recharge before continuing. If this happens early in a fresh charge, confirm the battery contacts in the bay are clean and making firm contact, as even slight resistance adds to capacitor recharge lag.
