Fits Juniper Allegro 2, Archer 2, and Systems AR2 — replaces OEM part 2EXL7431-001.
3.7V at 13600mAh delivers sustained power for multi-hour field surveys without mid-session shutdown.
Slide connector locks into the battery compartment with no orientation guessing — seats flush and stays.
We ran full discharge cycles on an Allegro 2 with active GPS logging; BMS held voltage flat until cutoff, no premature dropout.
On first deployment after installation, run the full calibration routine in the instrument menu — this syncs the battery state register and prevents false low-battery warnings during your first field session.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Juniper Allegro 2 / Archer 2 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (2EXL7431-001)

This 3.7V Li-ion battery replaces OEM part 2EXL7431-001 in the Juniper Allegro 2 and Archer 2 portable data collection computers. Capacity is 13600mAh (50.32Wh). It fits the full AG2 and AR2 platform used in geospatial survey, environmental assessment, and field mapping work.

  • Allegro 2 / Archer 2 platform fit: The Allegro 2 and Archer 2 share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol — that is why one cell pack covers both lines. The Allegro 2 (AG2) and Archer 2 (AR2) variants also use the same voltage rail, so the BMS handshake clears on all of them without modification.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through power-on sequencing, GPS lock, and sustained data-logging load on an Allegro 2 unit. The BMS held steady through probe initialisation spikes and did not trip on the combined USB-host and sensor draw that catches weaker cells off guard.
  • First-use calibration on the Allegro 2: After installing, run a full calibration cycle through the Allegro 2 instrument menu before field deployment. The device maps battery state during that cycle — skipping it causes premature low-battery warnings during your first measurement session in the field, even when the pack is near full charge.

Why the Allegro 2 shuts down mid-session despite showing charge on screen

The Allegro 2 draws a sustained combined load during active GPS logging, radio sync, and backlit display — this can pull the cell voltage below the BMS cutoff threshold momentarily, even when the state-of-charge indicator still reads high. A worn or partially charged cell cannot hold the voltage rail steady under that load, so the BMS trips and the unit cuts out. A fresh, fully charged pack resolves this because the internal resistance is low enough to supply the peak current without voltage sag. If shutdowns continue after swapping the pack, check that the calibration cycle completed fully — an uncalibrated pack will show a falsely high percentage right up until the BMS trips.

Allegro 2 not recognising a new pack after the unit sat unused in a carry case

Li-ion cells self-discharge slowly in storage, and if the pack drops below roughly 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a low-voltage lockout state and stops responding to the device. The Allegro 2 reads no battery or shows an error because the BMS is not communicating, not because the pack is faulty. Connect the pack to the OEM charger and leave it for at least 30–60 minutes before attempting to power the unit on — most chargers apply a recovery trickle charge below 2.8V per cell that wakes the BMS. Once the pack climbs above 3.0V per cell, normal charging and device recognition resume.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Allegro 2 powers on fine but resets or loses my logging session partway through a long field survey — what is happening?

This is a voltage dropout under sustained sensor and GPS load, not a full BMS trip. The cell cannot hold a steady voltage rail when the combined draw runs for an extended period, so the unit resets to protect its memory and processor. It happens most often when the pack is partially discharged before heading out, because the voltage sag under load is steeper on a half-full cell than a full one. Start every session with a fully charged pack and confirm the calibration cycle has run so the Allegro 2 is reading cell state accurately.

The Allegro 2 won't charge after sitting in a pelican case for several months — the charger light just blinks and nothing happens.

The pack self-discharged into BMS sleep mode, which is below the threshold the charger expects for a normal charge cycle. Leave the pack connected to the charger for 45–60 minutes without interruption — most OEM and compatible chargers apply a pre-charge trickle below 2.8V per cell that recovers the BMS from lockout. Do not disconnect and reconnect repeatedly, as that resets the trickle timer. Once the cell voltage climbs above 3.0V per cell, the charger will switch to its normal constant-current phase and the charge indicator will stabilise.

The Allegro 2 shuts down the moment I plug it into a PC for data transfer, even though the battery indicator looks fine.

USB data transfer adds a combined draw — the USB-host controller, active radio, display, and file-system write operations all run simultaneously, and that peak current is higher than any single task in the field. A cell with elevated internal resistance cannot sustain that load without the voltage rail dropping below the BMS cutoff, so the unit cuts out. This is the first failure mode that appears as a cell ages, because the sag only becomes critical under peak combined draw. Charge the pack to 100% before any PC sync session, and if the problem persists with a fresh pack, check that the calibration cycle completed — an unc
