Fits Juniper Allegro 2, Archer 2, Systems AR2, and Systems AG2 — replaces OEM part 2EXL7431-001.
3.7V, 10400mAh cell delivers full capacity on single charge for extended field survey sessions without midday swaps.
Connector seats vertically into battery slot with push-release tab; physical fit confirmed against Allegro 2 housing.
Bench testing showed BMS accepted charge cycle without fault codes; voltage held steady under sustained sensor load.
After installing this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before deploying to the field — the Allegro maps battery state during calibration, and skipping this step causes premature low-battery warnings on first measurement.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Juniper Allegro 2 / Archer 2 — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (2EXL7431-001)

This 3.7V, 10400mAh Li-ion battery replaces OEM part 2EXL7431-001 in the Juniper Allegro 2 and Archer 2 mobile data collection handhelds. It also fits the Systems AR2 and Systems AG2 variants. Built to the same voltage and capacity spec as the original pack, it slots into the same battery bay without modification.

  • Allegro 2 and Archer 2 platform fit: Both handhelds share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. The same 3.7V cell stack and 38.48Wh energy rating cover both units, which is why one part number — 2EXL7431-001 — spans the entire platform line.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through the Allegro 2 charge cycle and confirmed the BMS handshake completes correctly. The protection circuit tripped at the expected low-voltage threshold and recovered cleanly on reconnect. No charge fault codes were logged.
  • Field deployment prep: After fitting this pack, run a full calibration cycle through the instrument menu before heading out. The Allegro 2 maps battery state during that calibration pass — skip it and the device will throw premature low-battery warnings well before the pack is actually depleted.

BMS lockout after the Allegro 2 sat unused in a carry case for months

Li-ion packs left discharged for extended periods can drop below the BMS recovery threshold — typically around 2.5V per cell. When this happens, the protection circuit locks out and the device shows no charge activity at all. The fix is to apply a slow trickle charge directly to the pack using a compatible Li-ion charger set to a low current, which nudges the cell voltage above the recovery floor. Once the BMS detects voltage above that threshold, it re-enables the charge path and normal charging resumes. If the pack was stored below 2.0V per cell for an extended period, cell recovery may be incomplete.

Allegro 2 shuts down mid-logging session despite showing a charged battery

This usually happens when sustained sensor or GPS load pulls the pack voltage low enough to trip the BMS undervoltage cutoff — even if the displayed percentage looked fine moments before. The fuel gauge on the Allegro 2 reads a resting voltage, not the voltage under active draw, so sag under load can be much steeper than the display suggests. If shutdowns happen consistently during long GPS logging or sensor-active sessions, check the battery terminal voltage under load with a multimeter — a healthy cell should hold above 3.4V per cell under draw. A pack that sags below 3.0V per cell under moderate load needs replacing regardless of resting state percentage.

Frequently Asked Questions

My Allegro 2 won't recognise the new battery at all — screen stays blank and it won't charge. What's going on?

The most likely cause is the BMS entering sleep mode during storage, which happens when cell voltage drops below the recovery threshold before the pack ships or sits on a shelf. Plug the unit into mains power and leave it connected for 20–30 minutes without attempting to power on — some BMS circuits need a sustained charge signal to wake from lockout. If the charge LED still doesn't respond, check the battery contacts for oxidation and clean them with a dry cloth. Once the BMS wakes, voltage should climb above 3.0V per cell and normal charging resumes.

The Allegro 2 powers on fine but shuts off the moment I connect it to a PC for data transfer. Is this a battery problem?

Yes — USB data transfer adds a simultaneous load on top of whatever the device is already drawing, and an ageing or partially depleted pack can't sustain the combined current without the BMS tripping the undervoltage cutoff. This specific failure mode appears during transfer because the USB stack, active GPS, and display all pull current at once. Charge the pack fully to 4.2V before any transfer session. If shutdowns persist on a freshly charged pack, the cell capacity has likely faded enough that resting voltage no longer reflects true usable energy.

After months of storage, my Allegro 2 shows 100% battery almost immediately after plugging in, then drops to low battery just as fast during use. What causes that?

This is a voltage-threshold calibration issue — the device's battery indicator was tuned to the old cell's discharge curve and hasn't mapped the new pack yet. Run a full calibration cycle through the Allegro 2 instrument menu immediately after the first full charge on the new pack. The device re-maps the discharge curve during that pass, which corrects both the jump-to-full and the premature low-battery warnings. Skip that step and the percentage display will remain unreliable for the first several field sessions.
