Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JVC CU-VH1 / GR Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BN-V416)
This 7.4V, 2200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the BN-V416 battery used in JVC compact camcorders including the CU-VH1, CU-VH1US, GR-33, GR-4000US, and over 230 compatible models. It matches the original voltage rail and connector footprint exactly. Capacity is drawn from product data at 2200mAh (16.28Wh).
- CU-VH1 and GR-series compatibility: These models share the BN-V416 connector spec and 7.4V dual-cell Li-ion architecture. The BMS handshake across this range expects the same voltage thresholds and discharge curve, so one cell fits the full lineup without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through a full charge and discharge on compatible JVC hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without rejection flags, held charge correctly across the discharge curve, and hit cutoff at the expected low-voltage threshold.
- First charge cycle on JVC camcorders: Perform the initial charge directly inside the camcorder body using the OEM charger connection — not a third-party external charger. Some JVC BMS firmware requires an in-body charge cycle before the battery-remaining indicator maps correctly to the new cell's discharge curve.
Why the CU-VH1 shows a dead battery indicator on a partially charged replacement cell
JVC's battery-remaining display reads voltage thresholds, not actual charge state. A new third-party cell has a slightly different discharge curve than the aged OEM cell the BMS calibrated against. The camcorder maps those voltage points to its indicator segments, and when the curve doesn't align, it reads the cell as depleted before it actually is. Running one full charge-discharge cycle inside the camcorder body resets the threshold mapping and brings the indicator back into accurate range.
Battery percentage jumping erratically mid-recording on the GR series
During sustained video recording, the GR-series sensor and image processor pull combined current that causes voltage to sag momentarily on a new cell. The BMS interprets each sag as a different state of charge, which forces the display to jump between levels. This is not a fault — it's the indicator reacting to load-induced voltage fluctuation. Charge the cell fully to 8.4V before a recording session and the sag window narrows enough to stabilise the readout.

Frequently Asked Questions
The CU-VH1 shows "no battery" the first time I put in the replacement — is the cell dead?
It's not dead. JVC's BMS runs an authentication check on first install and sometimes rejects an unrecognised cell until it sees a charge attempt from within the camcorder body. Insert the battery, connect the OEM charger, and let it run a full charge cycle inside the camera. After one full cycle, the BMS accepts the cell and the error clears.
My GR-series camcorder drains this battery far faster in cold weather than in normal conditions — is something wrong with the cell?
Nothing is wrong. Li-ion cells lose available capacity as temperature drops because electrolyte conductivity decreases, which raises internal resistance and compresses the usable voltage window. The JVC BMS hits its low-voltage cutoff sooner under cold-weather load than the same cell would reach at room temperature. Warm the camcorder body to above 10°C before extended use and capacity returns to normal levels.
The battery percentage on my JVC GR-4000US jumped from 60% to 15% in one recording session without heavy use — what causes that?
The GR-4000US indicator maps voltage to percentage in fixed steps. A replacement cell with a flatter mid-range discharge curve holds voltage steady through most of its charge, then drops steeply toward the end. The camcorder sees that steep drop and steps the percentage down fast. This isn't capacity loss — it's the indicator reacting to the curve shape. After two to three full charge-discharge cycles the BMS recalibrates its voltage-to-percentage mapping and the jumps reduce significantly.
