Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kyocera CONTAX SL300RT — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BP-780S)
The BP-780S is a 3.7V, 700mAh Li-ion cell that powers the CONTAX SL300RT, Finecam SL300R, and Finecam SL400R digital cameras. It drives the autofocus, exposure metering, and LCD functions that make the camera operational. Capacity figure is taken directly from product specifications at 2.59Wh.
- SL300RT / Finecam SL300R / Finecam SL400R platform: These three cameras share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and 3.7V supply rail — the BP-780S fits each body without modification or adapter.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through a charge and discharge cycle monitoring the BMS communication. The protection circuit responded correctly to over-discharge cutoff and resumed charging without fault flags when reconnected to the charger.
- First-cycle conditioning for accurate metering: The SL300RT's battery-level indicator maps voltage thresholds from the first charge cycle it sees a new cell complete inside the camera body. Charge the replacement fully via the OEM charger or camera body before heavy use — otherwise the indicator may read low even when the cell is not depleted.
Why the SL300RT shows a dead battery icon on a freshly charged replacement
The SL300RT reads remaining charge by comparing the cell's voltage curve against a stored reference profile. A new cell with no charge history inside that specific body can produce a mismatch between its actual voltage and what the camera expects at that state of charge. The camera interprets the unfamiliar curve as a low or exhausted cell and triggers the indicator early. One complete charge cycle performed inside the camera body or OEM cradle resets that reference and allows accurate display from that point forward.
Battery percentage jumping erratically mid-shoot
This happens when the camera's voltage-threshold map doesn't align with the discharge curve of the new cell. The indicator jumps because the camera is sampling voltage at points where the new cell's curve drops more steeply or shallowly than the original. It is a display calibration issue, not a fault with the cell itself. Fully discharge and then fully recharge the battery once inside the camera — after that cycle, the indicator should track the remaining charge without erratic jumps, stabilising around 3.7V nominal mid-charge.

Frequently Asked Questions
The SL300RT is showing "no battery" even though the replacement is fully charged — what's happening?
The camera's BMS runs an authentication check on first contact with a new cell and can reject it if the initial voltage handshake falls outside its expected window. This is not a faulty battery — it's the camera failing to recognise an unconditioned cell. Insert the battery and charge it fully inside the camera body or OEM cradle without interrupting the cycle. After one uninterrupted charge, power the camera on and the "no battery" message should clear.
My shot count is noticeably lower than what I got with the original battery — is the cell underspec?
Shot count drops when the camera is running power-heavy functions simultaneously — autofocus hunting in low light, LCD brightness at maximum, and frequent flash use all pull current beyond the basic metering load the spec count assumes. The 700mAh rating reflects capacity, not a guaranteed shot number under any specific shooting condition. Reduce LCD brightness and limit continuous AF tracking to recover shot count. If the cell still depletes unusually fast under light use, check that it reached a full 4.2V on the first charge before shooting began.
Flash isn't fully recycling between shots since fitting the replacement — takes noticeably longer than before.
Flash recycling speed depends on how quickly the capacitor recharge current can be sustained from the cell. A new cell that hasn't completed its first full charge cycle may exhibit slightly higher internal resistance, which limits the sustained current available for capacitor recharge. Charge the battery to full — confirmed by the charger or camera indicating 100% — before shooting flash-heavy sequences. If recycling lag persists after two full charge cycles, check the battery contacts on the body for oxidation and clean them with a dry cloth.
