Fits JVC GR-DVX707EG and replaces OEM battery BN-V312U, BN-V306, BN-V312, BN-V306U.
7.4V and 1260mAh delivers the charge capacity JVC specified for this compact camcorder body.
Connector slides onto the camera's battery slot with a positive-contact locking tab on the left side.
We charged this cell in the camera body and confirmed the BMS accepted the new pack on first cycle without error codes.
On first install, let the camera run one full charge cycle from the body charger — JVC's firmware needs this to map the new cell's discharge curve to the battery-remaining display.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

JVC GR-DVX707EG Series — 7.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BN-V312U)

This is a 7.4V, 1260mAh Li-ion cell that replaces the BN-V312U, BN-V312, BN-V306, and BN-V306U batteries in JVC compact video cameras. It fits the GR-DVX707EG, GR-DVX509, GR-DVX407EG, GR-DVX400, and 16 additional GR-series models. Voltage and capacity match OEM spec exactly.

  • GR-DVX and GR-D series fit: These JVC camcorders share the same battery bay geometry, 7.4V voltage rail, and BN-V3xx connector footprint. One cell covers the full range listed in the compatibility data.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on a GR-series body. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and the charge indicator tracked normally through the full cycle.
  • First charge cycle on a JVC body: Charge the new cell fully inside the JVC camera body or OEM charger before first use. Some JVC BMS firmware needs an in-body charge cycle to calibrate the battery-remaining display to the new cell's discharge curve.

Battery percentage jumping or freezing on the GR-DVX display

JVC's GR-series battery gauge maps voltage thresholds from the original BN-V312U discharge curve. A new Li-ion cell has a slightly steeper initial voltage drop before settling into its flat mid-range plateau. The camera's indicator reads that early drop as a larger capacity loss than it actually is, causing the percentage to jump or stall. One full charge-discharge cycle inside the camera body lets the BMS re-map its thresholds to the new cell. After that cycle, the display tracks accurately.

GR-DVX707EG showing dead battery icon immediately after inserting a new cell

This happens when the cell arrives at a storage charge — typically around 3.8V total — and the camera's BMS threshold sits just above that voltage at startup. The camera reads the resting voltage as critically low rather than partially charged. Insert the battery and connect to the OEM charger immediately, even for 10 minutes, before powering on. Once the cell climbs above the BMS low-voltage lockout threshold, the icon clears and the camera boots normally.

Frequently Asked Questions

My GR-DVX707EG shows the dead battery icon the moment I put the new cell in — it won't even turn on. Is the battery dead?

It isn't dead — it arrived at storage voltage, roughly 3.7–3.8V, and the GR-series BMS lockout threshold sits just above that level. The camera reads it as critically depleted rather than partially charged. Connect the battery to the OEM charger for 10–15 minutes before powering on. Once it clears the lockout threshold, the camera boots normally and the icon disappears.

The battery percentage on my GR-DVX jumps from 80% straight to 20% and then sits there — why is the gauge so erratic?

The GR-series gauge maps voltage steps from the original BN-V312U discharge curve. A new cell has a sharper initial voltage drop before flattening out, so the indicator over-reads that early fall as a large capacity loss. Run one complete charge-discharge cycle inside the camera body. That cycle lets the BMS re-calibrate its voltage-to-percentage mapping against the new cell, and the display stabilises from then on.

Recording in cold weather, my GR-DVX cuts out mid-clip even though the battery showed charge — what's happening?

Li-ion cells lose internal capacity as temperature drops, and the GR-series draws a sustained combined load from the sensor, processor, and LCD during video recording. At low temperatures, that combined draw causes the cell voltage to sag below the BMS cutoff point faster than the capacity indicator predicts. Warm the battery to room temperature inside a pocket before shooting, and avoid leaving the camera idle outdoors between clips. Keep cell temperature above 10°C and the BMS cutoff trips much less frequently.
