Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the KAZAM TV 4.5 after a cell swap

After replacing the battery, the TV 4.5 may shut down abruptly while the percentage still reads 20–30%. This is a voltage cliff — under load from the modem or screen, the new cell's voltage drops below the BMS cutoff threshold before the fuel gauge catches up. The fuel gauge IC was calibrated to the old, degraded cell's discharge curve, so it misreads the new cell's state of charge. One full discharge-to-shutdown followed by a complete charge cycle resets the coulomb counter and eliminates the early cutoff.

TV 4.5 not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage

A Li-ion cell stored at low charge will self-discharge over weeks. If the cell voltage drops below approximately 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters a lockout state and the phone will not respond to the power button. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a USB port — and leave it for 15–30 minutes without attempting to power it on. The charge IC delivers a trickle current to bring the cell above the BMS re-enable threshold, typically around 3.0V, after which normal charging resumes.

The cell is not faulty. The fuel gauge IC on the TV 4.5 was calibrated to the old degraded cell, so it misreads the new cell's discharge curve and triggers shutdown before the real charge is gone. Run one full discharge-to-cutoff cycle, then charge uninterrupted to 100% with fast charging disabled. The TV 4.5 percentage keeps jumping around erratically after the replacement — it went from 60% to 41% in two minutes without heavy use.

Erratic percentage readings are a fuel gauge IC recalibration issue, not a sign of a defective cell. The IC's stored discharge model no longer matches the new cell, so it miscalculates state of charge under any load change. Let the phone discharge fully until it shuts itself off, then charge to 100% in one uninterrupted session with the screen dim. That single full cycle resets the fuel gauge reference points and stabilises the percentage display.

Fast charging stopped working on my KAZAM TV 4.5 right after I installed the replacement battery — it only slow-charges now.

On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the charge IC sometimes defaults to standard current because the BMS on the new cell has not yet completed its initial handshake with the phone's charging controller. Connect to the original wall adapter, let the phone charge fully without interruption, then disconnect and reconnect.
