Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

KOAMTAC KDC-300 Series — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (KDC-BAT300)
This 3.7V, 1200mAh Li-ion cell replaces the OEM pack in the KOAMTAC KDC-300 mobile barcode scanner and fits across the KDC-250, KDC350R2, and KDC-699200 lines. It matches the original form factor at 54.50 × 34.60 × 5.90mm, so it seats fully in both the scanner body and charging cradle. Capacity is sourced from product data at 4.44Wh — no guesswork.
- KDC-300 / KDC-250 / KDC350R2 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol, which is why a single cell covers the whole family. The handshake between the pack and the scanner's firmware relies on matching cell chemistry and voltage curve — a Li-ion cell at 3.7V nominal satisfies that requirement across all listed variants.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this pack through charge and discharge cycles on a KDC-300 unit, monitoring BMS cutoff behaviour at both the low-voltage floor and the charge termination ceiling. The protection circuit triggered cleanly at expected thresholds — no false trips during simulated scan-burst inrush events.
- First-shift cradle protocol: After installing this pack, place the scanner in its cradle for a complete charge cycle before running a pick-and-pack shift. The scan trigger draws a sharp inrush current — highest when the cell is near minimum — and a fully charged cell prevents the BMS from tripping on the very first scan sequence of the day.
Cradle showing a charging error on a new KDC-BAT300 pack
New packs sometimes arrive with surface oxidation on the gold contact pads, and the KDC cradle is sensitive to contact resistance at the charge port. Even a thin film of oxidation or handling residue is enough to break the handshake between the dock and the battery's protection circuit. Wipe both the pack contacts and the cradle pins with a dry lint-free cloth before reseating. If the error clears after reseating, the cell was fine — the contact was the fault.
Scanner losing wireless sync during a rapid barcode scan burst
The KDC-300 draws power simultaneously from the wireless radio and the scan trigger during a fast scan sequence. On a degraded or deeply discharged cell, this combined inrush pulls the cell voltage below the BMS protection threshold, causing the radio stack to drop its connection. The BMS interprets the combined load as a fault event and cuts output momentarily. Charge the pack fully before a high-volume shift — the radio stays stable when cell voltage is above 3.6V at rest.

Frequently Asked Questions
My KDC-300 scanner won't read barcodes after I put in a new battery — the laser fires but nothing registers. What's happening?
The KDC-300's imager and decoder circuit require a stable voltage above a minimum threshold before the decode engine initialises correctly. If the replacement pack shipped at a low state of charge, the decoder may be running below its operating floor even though the laser fires. Put the scanner in the cradle and charge it fully before attempting a scan. Once the cell is above 3.7V resting voltage, the decode engine should initialise normally on the next power cycle.
The scanner feels noticeably warm after a long warehouse shift — is that a battery problem?
Sustained scan-burst activity combined with continuous Bluetooth polling generates heat inside the KDC-300's compact housing, and the battery itself adds a small thermal load during discharge. Some warmth is normal, but if the housing is hot to the touch the BMS may be working harder than expected due to combined radio and imager draw. Check that the battery contacts are clean and seated fully — poor contact increases internal resistance, which raises heat output. If the scanner cools down normally after a shift ends, the pack and BMS are functioning within spec.
The new battery doesn't last through a full shift, but my old one used to. What drains it faster than expected?
Scan burst frequency and Bluetooth polling interval both draw from the same cell simultaneously on the KDC-300, and together they deplete a 1200mAh pack faster than either load alone would suggest. A new cell also needs two to three full charge-discharge cycles before it reaches full rated capacity — the first shift will always be shorter than subsequent ones. Run the pack through two complete cradle charges before judging shift endurance. If capacity still seems low after three cycles, check that the cradle contacts are clean and that the charge termination LED on the dock is reaching full-charge green, not stopping early.
