Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Zebra 8690i Wearable RFID Mini — 3.7V Li-ion Replacement Battery (BAT-SCN07)
This is a 3.7V 3400mAh Li-ion battery for the Zebra 8690i wearable RFID mini scanner. It replaces OEM part numbers BAT-SCN07 and 50164357-001. The 8690i is a ring-style wearable terminal used in warehouse pick-and-pack, inventory counting, and asset tracking workflows.
- 8690i wearable platform fit: The 8690i uses a compact ring-form housing with a specific connector orientation and BMS handshake tied to Zebra's power management firmware. This pack matches that physical footprint and communicates correctly with the device's fuel gauge circuit.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this pack through rapid scan bursts combined with simultaneous Bluetooth polling loads — the conditions that stress 8690i batteries hardest. The BMS held stable voltage delivery through sustained trigger events without tripping into protection mode.
- First-shift charging protocol: After installing, seat the scanner in its cradle and let it complete a full charge cycle before the first shift. The scan trigger inrush current peaks when the cell is near minimum charge, and starting a shift on a partially charged new pack raises the risk of a false BMS protection trip during the first burst sequence.
Cradle showing charging error on a new 8690i pack
The 8690i cradle communicates with the battery through spring-loaded dock contacts on the underside of the ring unit. Oxidation or debris on either the pack contacts or the cradle pins raises contact resistance enough to trigger a charging fault on the dock's LED indicator. Clean the gold contacts on the battery and the cradle pins with a dry lint-free cloth before reseating. If the error clears and charging begins, the pack itself was never the problem — contact resistance was.
Scanner dropping wireless connection during rapid scan bursts
The 8690i draws simultaneously from the Bluetooth radio and the scan trigger during burst scanning — two inrush loads hitting the cell at once. When a degraded or low battery can't sustain voltage under that combined draw, the radio subsystem drops first because the scanner firmware prioritises the imager. The result looks like a wireless dropout but the root cause is voltage sag at the cell. Charge the pack to full before a high-frequency scanning shift, and check that the cell voltage at rest is above 3.6V before clocking on.

Frequently Asked Questions
My 8690i scanner stopped reading barcodes right after I swapped the battery — what's wrong?
The imager needs a minimum voltage threshold to fire reliably, and a new pack that ships partially discharged may sit just below that threshold under load. This is not a faulty battery — it's a charge state issue. Place the scanner in the cradle immediately after the swap and complete a full charge cycle before attempting to scan. Once the cell reaches full charge, the imager will draw cleanly and reads will return to normal.
The 8690i gets noticeably warm after a long picking shift — is that a battery problem?
Sustained scan bursts combined with continuous Bluetooth polling generate significant heat inside the 8690i's enclosed ring housing, because there is nowhere for the thermal load to dissipate. The battery itself contributes to this — Li-ion cells generate heat during high-frequency discharge cycles. It is normal for the housing to feel warm, but if the scanner is hot to the touch or shuts down, check that the scan interval isn't set to continuous trigger mode in your device management profile, as that keeps both the imager and radio active simultaneously.
The new 8690i battery drains faster than expected compared to the old one — is it defective?
New Li-ion cells often deliver inconsistent capacity for the first three to five full charge-discharge cycles before the electrochemistry stabilises. If you swapped the pack and went straight into a full shift, the first cycle capacity will read low. Run three complete cradle charge cycles — charge to full, discharge through normal use, repeat — before judging shift endurance. If capacity is still noticeably short after five cycles, check whether your wireless polling interval has increased, as Bluetooth beacon frequency is one of the largest variables in 8690i battery draw.
