Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kyocera DuraForce XD / E6790 — 3.7V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (SCP-65LBPS)
This 3.7V, 3020mAh Li-Polymer battery replaces the factory cell in the Kyocera DuraForce XD, E6790, and E6790 LTE smartphones. It matches OEM part numbers SCP-65LBPS and 5AAXBT091GEA. If your DuraForce XD is shutting down early, charging slowly, or holding less capacity than it used to, the cell has degraded and needs replacing.
- DuraForce XD / E6790 platform fit: All three listed models share the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol. The E6790 and E6790 LTE are hardware variants of the same platform, so one cell covers all three without modification.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on the DuraForce XD, monitoring BMS communication, charge acceptance, and cutoff behavior. The battery negotiated correctly with the device charge IC and held capacity within spec across multiple cycles.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first use after installation, disable fast charging and run one complete discharge-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC build an accurate discharge curve against the new cell before high-current charging begins on an uncalibrated coulomb counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the DuraForce XD after a cell swap
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve. The reported percentage does not match actual cell voltage, so the phone shuts down before the gauge reaches zero. Under modem load or screen brightness spikes, the new cell's voltage drops faster than the IC expects, triggering a hard cutoff. Run one full discharge to 0% and a full charge to 100% without interruption — the coulomb counter resets against the new curve after that cycle.
USB fast charging not activating on the first cycle after replacement
On the first charge after a cell swap, the charge IC may not negotiate the fast-charge protocol because it detects an uncalibrated BMS state. This is a protection behavior — the IC defaults to standard 5V/1A until it confirms the new cell is safe to push high current into. Charge once at standard rate until full, then disconnect and reconnect the cable. Fast charging typically resumes from the second cycle onward once the BMS has logged a complete charge event.

Frequently Asked Questions
My DuraForce XD shows 25% battery and just cuts off without warning — is this a faulty cell?
Not necessarily a faulty cell. The fuel gauge IC in the E6790 is calibrated to the old cell's discharge curve, so it misreads the voltage cliff on the new cell and triggers a hard shutdown before the percentage reaches zero. Run one uninterrupted full discharge to 0% followed by a full charge to 100% at standard rate. After that cycle, the coulomb counter recalibrates to the new cell and the cutoff behavior resolves.
The phone gets noticeably warm near the battery during the first few charges — is that normal?
A new Li-Polymer cell has higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, so the charge IC dissipates slightly more heat during the first few charge cycles. This is normal and reduces as the cell conditions. If the phone stays warm past the third or fourth full charge, check that you are not charging inside a case — the DuraForce XD's rugged shell traps heat, which the charge IC cannot compensate for. Heat above 40°C during charging accelerates capacity fade in Li-Polymer cells, so remove the case during the first few cycles.
After the phone sat unused for three months with this new battery, it won't power on at all — how do I recover it?
When a Li-Polymer cell drops below approximately 2.5V from extended storage, the BMS locks out to prevent charging a potentially unsafe cell. Plug the DuraForce XD into a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it connected for 20–30 minutes without pressing the power button. The charge IC trickle-charges the cell above the BMS lockout threshold before switching to normal charge current. Once the screen shows the charging indicator, the BMS has cleared the lockout and normal charging will resume.
