Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Kyocera Torque G04 / KYV46 — 3.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (KYV46UAA)
This is a 3.8V, 2900mAh (11.02Wh) Li-ion cell built to replace the OEM battery in the Kyocera Torque G04 and KYV46 smartphones. The Torque G04 is a rugged Android handset used in outdoor and industrial environments where the original battery takes heavy daily abuse. Swap this cell when the original no longer holds a usable charge under normal screen and modem load.
- Torque G04 and KYV46 fitment: Both model designations — the carrier variant KYV46 and the Torque G04 name — use the same battery bay geometry, connector pinout, and BMS handshake. One cell covers both.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on compatible hardware. The BMS accepted the cell without fault flags, and charge termination triggered correctly at full capacity.
- Fuel gauge recalibration on first use: On first installation, disable fast charging and run one full discharge-to-charge cycle at standard rate. This lets the fuel gauge IC map the new cell's discharge curve before high-current charging pushes current into an uncalibrated coulomb counter.
Sudden shutdown at 20–30% on the Torque G04 after a cell swap
This happens when the fuel gauge IC is still calibrated to the old cell's voltage curve. The Torque G04's modem and display draw peak current during active use, and a new cell with a slightly different internal resistance profile can hit a voltage sag the gauge reads as a safe 25% — then collapse instantly. The fix is one full uninterrupted discharge to automatic shutdown, followed by a full charge without interruption. After that cycle, the coulomb counter realigns to the new cell and percentage reporting stabilises.
Device not powering on after the replacement battery sat in storage
Li-ion cells self-discharge during storage, and if the cell dropped below 2.5V per cell, the BMS enters lockout to prevent reverse-polarity damage to the cell. The Torque G04 will show no response to the power button in this state. Connect the phone to a wall charger — not a PC USB port — and leave it for 15–20 minutes without pressing anything. The charge IC will trickle current into the cell until voltage climbs above the BMS recovery threshold, typically around 2.9V, at which point normal charging resumes.

Frequently Asked Questions
My Torque G04 shuts off at around 25% battery after I put in the new cell — is something wrong with the replacement?
Nothing is wrong with the cell itself. The fuel gauge IC inside the Torque G04 is still calibrated to the old battery's discharge curve, so it misreads the voltage cliff on the new cell and triggers shutdown before the percentage hits zero. Run one full discharge — let the phone die on its own — then charge it to 100% without interruption at standard charge rate, not fast charge. After that single cycle the coulomb counter resets against the new cell and the shutdowns stop.
The Torque G04 feels warm near the battery compartment while charging the new cell for the first time — should I be concerned?
A new Li-ion cell typically has slightly higher internal impedance than a broken-in cell, which means the charge IC pushes voltage across a higher resistance on the first few cycles and generates a little more heat. This is normal and settles after two or three full cycles as the cell's impedance drops. If the phone feels hot to the touch — not just warm — stop the charge and let it cool before resuming. After the break-in cycles, charging heat on the Torque G04 returns to the same level as the original battery.
Fast charging stopped working after I replaced the battery on my KYV46 — it only charges slowly now.
On the first charge cycle after a cell swap, the BMS on the new cell may not yet negotiate the fast-charge handshake with the Kyocera charge IC, so the phone defaults to standard 5V charging as a safety fallback. This is expected behaviour on the first cycle. Complete one full standard-rate charge to 100%, then disconnect and reconnect the charger — the fast-charge protocol typically re-negotiates correctly from the second cycle onward. If fast charging still does not activate after two full cycles, try the original OEM charger to rule out a cable or adapter issue.
