Fits Lenovo ThinkPad E31, E31-70, E31-70-80KX0007GE and replaces OEM part L14L2P22.
7.6V 4500mAh capacity sustains the CPU and display load without voltage sag midway through discharge.
Connector slides straight into the battery slot with a single locking tab at the base.
We bench-tested the BMS against a full-drain cycle; fuel gauge IC stabilized by cycle three without errors.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff then uninterrupted charge to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears inaccurate health warnings.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo E31-70 Series — 7.6V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (L14L2P22)

This 7.6V, 4500mAh Li-Polymer cell replaces the original L14L2P22 battery in Lenovo ThinkPad E31, E31-70, and E31-70-80KX0007GE notebooks. It matches the original voltage rail, connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol. Capacity is 4500mAh (34.2Wh), identical to the factory specification.

  • E31 and E31-70 platform fit: These models share the same battery bay dimensions, the same 7.6V charging circuit, and the same L14L2P22 BMS handshake. A cell that reports the wrong EEPROM data will trigger a health warning in the BIOS — this unit carries the correct identifiers for the E31 series.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge, full-load discharge, and BMS cutoff cycles on an E31-70 chassis. The BMS accepted the cell without fault codes, and the BIOS recognised the rated 34.2Wh without prompting a manual override.
  • Post-install discharge cycle on the E31: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on E31 series hardware.

BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after fitting the new cell

The E31 BIOS reads health status from EEPROM data stored on the battery controller, not from live voltage alone. When a new cell is installed, the BIOS compares the fresh EEPROM against its learned discharge history from the old cell and flags a mismatch as poor health. This is not a fault with the replacement — it is a calibration gap. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100%, and the BIOS learn cycle will reset. After two to three full cycles, the health indicator should clear to normal.

Fuel gauge jumping erratically for the first few charges

The E31's fuel gauge IC builds its capacity model from accumulated charge and discharge data. A new cell has no history in that model, so the IC estimates wildly until it has enough data points to recalibrate. This shows up as percentage jumps, sudden drops, or a gauge that reads 50% and then immediately triggers low-battery warnings. Run three complete charge-to-100% and discharge-to-hibernate cycles without interruption. By the third cycle, the fuel gauge IC will have enough data to track the new cell's actual voltage curve accurately.

Frequently Asked Questions

My E31-70 shuts down completely when the gauge still shows 20–25% — is the new battery faulty?

This is a voltage cliff issue, not a faulty cell. Under combined CPU and display load, the cell voltage drops sharply below what the BMS will sustain, even though the fuel gauge still shows charge remaining. The gauge IC has not yet calibrated to the new cell's discharge curve, so the percentage shown at cutoff is unreliable. Run three full discharge-to-hibernate cycles and the BMS cutoff will align with an accurate state of charge.

Windows and the BIOS are showing different Wh ratings for this battery — which one is right?

The BIOS reads the rated Wh value directly from the battery EEPROM, which reflects the factory specification of 34.2Wh. Windows calculates Wh from live voltage and current, which fluctuates during the first few cycles while the fuel gauge IC calibrates against the new cell chemistry. The two figures converge after the learn cycle completes. Run two full charge and discharge cycles, then check again — both readings should settle at or near 34.2Wh.

The battery stops charging at around 80% and won't go higher — is there a fault with the cell?

On E31 series hardware, Lenovo's BIOS includes a charge threshold setting that caps charging at 80% by default when Conservation Mode is enabled. This is a firmware control, not a cell fault. Open Lenovo Vantage or ThinkPad Battery Manager, navigate to Battery Charge Threshold, and set the stop-charging value to 100%. The battery will then charge to full on the next cycle.
