Fits Lenovo ThinkPad P70 and P71 models, replaces OEM part 00HW030 and equivalent cross-references.
14.8V 6400mAh lithium-ion cell delivers 94.72Wh to sustain full CPU and dual-GPU workloads on P70 mobile workstations.
Connector snaps into the battery slot with a single locking tab; orientation is keyed to prevent reverse installation.
We bench-tested the BMS against P70 power profiles — cell held voltage under sustained 150W load, no early cutoff observed.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad P70 / P71 — 14.8V Li-ion Replacement Battery (00HW030)

This 14.8V 6400mAh (94.72Wh) lithium-ion battery replaces the original power cell in the Lenovo ThinkPad P70 and P71 Mobile Workstation series. It fits the standard 4-cell bay used across the P70 and P71 chassis variants, including the Mobile Xeon Workstation configuration. OEM part numbers covered include 00HW030, SB10F46468, 4X50K14092, and 01AV451.

  • P70 and P71 platform fit: Both models share the same 14.8V four-cell architecture, battery connector pinout, and BMS communication protocol over the SMBus rail. The fuel gauge IC and EEPROM data format are identical across the P70 and P71 chassis, so one cell covers both lines without firmware conflicts.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell on a ThinkPad P70 under sustained CPU and GPU load. The BMS held charge termination correctly at 16.8V, discharged cleanly to the low-voltage cutoff at 11.0V, and communicated accurate state-of-charge data back to the system throughout the cycle.
  • Post-install calibration on ThinkPad workstations: After fitting this cell, run one full discharge until the laptop hibernates on low battery, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without interruption. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on the P70 and P71.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor immediately after replacement

The ThinkPad BIOS reads health status from EEPROM data embedded in the battery's BMS chip. A new cell ships with factory EEPROM values that don't match the charge history the BIOS expects to see. This mismatch triggers a false "poor health" or "replace soon" warning in Lenovo Vantage and the BIOS power screen. Running one full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% allows the BIOS learn cycle to rewrite its internal reference against the new cell's actual capacity curve.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen

Under full CPU plus discrete GPU load, the P70 and P71 draw significantly more current than the fuel gauge IC accounts for at rest. If the cell's voltage drops faster than the gauge can track — a voltage cliff — the system hits the hardware undervoltage threshold and shuts down even though the OS still displays 20–30% remaining. This is a gauge calibration gap, not a dead cell. Run two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles so the fuel gauge IC maps its readings to the new cell's actual discharge curve. After calibration, the reported percentage and the actual cutoff voltage should align to within 5%.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is Lenovo Vantage showing the wrong Wh rating after I installed the new battery?

The Wh value Vantage displays is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery's BMS chip, not measured in real time. A replacement cell's EEPROM may store a rated Wh figure from the cell manufacturer that differs slightly from the 94.72Wh label on the product. This is a data field difference, not a capacity fault — the cell is delivering its rated energy. If the discrepancy bothers you, run one full discharge cycle and Vantage will update its reading once the BIOS learn cycle completes.

The fuel gauge on my P70 is jumping around wildly — it reads 60%, then 45%, then 70% within minutes. What's happening?

The fuel gauge IC on the ThinkPad P70 uses a stored charge model that was calibrated to the old cell's chemistry and impedance. When you swap in a new cell, the IC is still calculating against the previous cell's profile, so the percentage output becomes erratic. It needs two to three full discharge-and-charge cycles to learn the new cell's voltage-to-capacity curve. After those cycles, the gauge stabilises — discharge fully to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% each time.

My P70 won't charge above 80% with the new battery installed. Is the cell faulty?

This is almost always a BIOS-controlled charge threshold, not a fault with the cell. Lenovo's power manager firmware includes a charge limit feature — often defaulted to 80% — to reduce heat stress during long sessions on AC power. Open Lenovo Vantage, go to Power, then Battery Charge Threshold, and check whether the upper limit is set below 100%. Set the stop charging threshold to 100% and the battery will charge to full on the next AC cycle.
