Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.
Delivery and Shipping
Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo IdeaPad S540-15IWL GTX — 11.34V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (L18L3PF6)
This is an 11.34V, 4500mAh (51.03Wh) Li-Polymer replacement battery for the Lenovo IdeaPad S540-15IWL GTX and IdeaPad S540-15IWL laptops. It replaces OEM part numbers L18L3PF6, SB10W67224, 5B10T26389, and 5B10W67284. If the original cell has degraded or fails to hold charge, this swap restores cordless use.
- IdeaPad S540-15IWL and GTX variant: Both the standard S540-15IWL and the GTX variant share the same battery bay dimensions, connector pinout, and BMS handshake protocol — the GTX label indicates the discrete GPU configuration, not a different battery platform.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We cycled this cell through charge and discharge on the S540 platform. The BMS communicated correctly with the EC firmware, reported capacity data to the OS, and held stable voltage across the full discharge curve without triggering a protection cutoff.
- Post-install learn cycle on S540: After fitting, run the battery down until the laptop hibernates, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without using the machine. This gives the BIOS fuel gauge IC one complete reference cycle against the new cell and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears after every cell swap on IdeaPad firmware.
BIOS reporting poor battery health immediately after replacement
The S540 BIOS reads health data stored in the battery's EEPROM and compares it against accumulated cycle history from the previous cell. A new cell presents fresh EEPROM data with zero cycles, which the firmware initially interprets as a mismatch rather than a clean slate. This triggers the "poor health" or "replace battery" flag in Lenovo Vantage or the BIOS setup screen. One full discharge-to-hibernate followed by an uninterrupted charge to 100% resets the learn cycle — run it twice if the warning persists after the first cycle.
Laptop shuts down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC's stored discharge curve no longer matches the new cell's actual voltage-versus-capacity profile. The OS believes 25% remains, but the cell voltage has already dropped below the BMS cutoff threshold under the combined load of the CPU, display, and GPU — so the system shuts down without warning. The fix is calibration: let the battery discharge fully to hibernate cutoff, then charge to 100% with the laptop off or in sleep mode. After two or three cycles the fuel gauge recalibrates to the new cell and the shutdown at 20–30% stops.

Frequently Asked Questions
Lenovo Vantage is showing the new battery as "0% available (plugged in, not charging)" — what's actually wrong?
The EC firmware on the S540 sometimes loses handshake with the new cell's BMS on first boot and locks the charge circuit as a protection response. Shut the laptop down fully, remove the AC adapter for 60 seconds, reconnect AC without the battery, boot to the BIOS setup screen, then shut down again and refit the battery. On the next boot the EC re-initialises the BMS connection and Vantage should show a normal charge state.
Windows is reporting the battery capacity as 38Wh when the cell is rated 51.03Wh — is the cell faulty?
The Wh figure Windows reports is pulled from the EEPROM on the battery, which stores the rated design capacity of the original OEM cell. After a cell swap, the EEPROM data and the actual chemistry of the new cell can differ until the fuel gauge IC has logged at least one full calibration cycle. Run a full discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. After one to two cycles the reported Wh figure stabilises against the real cell capacity.
Charge stopped at 80% and won't go higher — is the new battery defective?
This is a BIOS-controlled charge limit, not a fault in the cell. Lenovo IdeaPad firmware includes a "Conservation Mode" in Lenovo Vantage that caps charging at 60% or 80% to reduce cell stress during extended AC use. Open Lenovo Vantage, navigate to Power, and check Battery Charge Threshold or Conservation Mode — switch it off. The battery will then charge to 100% on the next cycle.
