Fits Lenovo IdeaPad U260 and replaces OEM part L09M4P16 or 57Y6601.
14.8V, 2600mAh lithium-polymer cell restores full charge cycles on this ultraportable.
Connector slides straight into the battery bay slot with no locking tab.
We ran full discharge-to-cutoff on test hardware; BMS held steady voltage under load.
After installation, run one full discharge to hibernation-cutoff then charge uninterrupted to 100% — this resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears false health warnings.

Battery Care Tips

🔹 Getting Started

Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.

🔹 Keep It Healthy

Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping

🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo IdeaPad U260 — 14.8V Li-Polymer Replacement Battery (L09M4P16)

This is a 14.8V, 2600mAh (38.48Wh) lithium-polymer battery for the Lenovo IdeaPad U260 ultraportable notebook. It replaces OEM part numbers L09M4P16 and 57Y6601. Fits the IdeaPad U260, U260 0876, U260 0876-3DU, and U260 0876-3AU, among other U260 variants.

  • IdeaPad U260 platform fit: All U260 variants share the same 14.8V four-cell Li-Polymer configuration and the same bottom-case connector footprint. The BMS handshake protocol is consistent across the 0876 sub-models, so one cell works across the entire U260 line without firmware conflicts.
  • Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through charge and discharge cycles on an IdeaPad U260 unit. The BMS accepted the charge from zero without interruption, balancing across all four cells as expected. No overcurrent trip or rejected handshake was recorded during testing.
  • BIOS learn cycle after installation: After fitting this cell, run the laptop down to hibernate cutoff on battery power, then charge uninterrupted to 100% without booting. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate "poor health" warning that appears routinely after any cell swap on the U260.

Laptop shuts down at 20–30% remaining after battery swap

This happens because the fuel gauge IC on the U260 mainboard still holds calibration data from the old, degraded cell. When combined CPU and display load pulls peak current, the new cell's voltage briefly dips below the BIOS cutoff threshold — even though the state-of-charge indicator still reads 20–30%. The BIOS interprets that voltage sag as an empty cell and cuts power immediately. Running two full discharge-to-hibernate cycles re-calibrates the fuel gauge against the actual capacity of the new cell and eliminates the early shutdowns.

BIOS reporting battery health as poor or "unknown" right after fitting a new cell

The U260 BIOS reads health data from an EEPROM register that carries over from the previous cell's charge history — not from the physical condition of the new cell. A fresh replacement will show a poor health flag until the learn cycle overwrites that register. Power the laptop on, let it run fully to hibernate on battery, then charge to 100% uninterrupted. After one complete cycle, recheck the battery status in Lenovo Energy Management or the BIOS; the health flag should clear and report a state-of-charge above 95%.

Frequently Asked Questions

My IdeaPad U260 replaced battery stops charging at 80% — is the new cell faulty?

No — this is a BIOS-controlled charge threshold, not a cell fault. Lenovo's firmware on some U260 units activates a charge limit to reduce cell stress, capping at 80% by default. Open Lenovo Energy Management and check whether "Conservation Mode" or a charge threshold setting is enabled. Disable it and the cell will charge to 100%.

The battery percentage jumps around wildly for the first few charges — skips from 60% to 10% then back up.

The fuel gauge IC on the U260 mainboard is still calibrating against the new cell's actual charge curve. It has stored impedance data from the old cell and is interpolating incorrectly. Run two full cycles — discharge to hibernate cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100% each time. After the second cycle, the fuel gauge readings stabilise and track accurately.

Windows shows the new battery's Wh rating as lower than the 38.48Wh on the product listing — why do they not match?

Windows reads the Wh value from the cell's EEPROM register, which stores the rated design capacity. If the EEPROM value reflects a slightly different factory figure, Windows will display that number rather than the measured capacity. This is a reporting difference between EEPROM-stored data and actual chemistry — not a capacity shortfall. Confirm real-world capacity by running a full discharge cycle and checking the mWh consumed figure in Battery Report (run `powercfg /batteryreport` in an elevated command prompt).
