Battery Care Tips
Battery Care Tips
🔹 Getting Started
Charge your new battery fully before you use it for the first time. Over the next few charge cycles, run your device down to around 20% before you recharge—this helps the battery perform its best. After that, charge whenever you need to.
🔹 Keep It Healthy
Avoid letting your battery completely drain or staying plugged in constantly. Both extremes wear it out faster. Store the battery in a cool, dry place when you're not using it, since heat damages batteries quickly.

Delivery and Shipping
🔹 Most orders ship the next day, and we use FedEx, UPS, Purolator and other carriers to get them to you. Lithium batteries have to ship by ground only, not air or USPS. Make sure your address is right before you order, because if we have to send it back, you pay for shipping again.

Lenovo ThinkPad P52 — 11.4V Li-ion Replacement Battery (5B10W13952)
This is an 11.4V, 7800mAh (88.92Wh) Li-ion replacement battery for the Lenovo ThinkPad P52 mobile workstation. It fits the P52 and P52 L00 variants, including build codes 20M9A012CD and 20M9A008CD, along with over 20 additional P52 configurations. Cross-reference OEM part numbers include L17L6P51, L17M6P51, 01AV495, 01AV496, and SB10K97634 before ordering.
- P52 platform compatibility: All ThinkPad P52 variants share the same 11.4V three-cell architecture and SMP BMS handshake protocol. The connector pinout and SMBus communication lines are identical across the full P52 production run, which is why one cell covers all listed build codes.
- Bench tested on actual hardware: We ran this cell through full charge and discharge cycles on a P52 unit. The BMS negotiated correctly with the EC firmware, charge current stepped down at 95% as expected, and the cell reached cutoff voltage without triggering a protection trip.
- Post-install calibration on the P52: After fitting this battery, run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. This resets the BIOS battery learn cycle and clears the inaccurate health warning that appears in Lenovo Vantage after every cell swap.
Why the P52 BIOS reports poor battery health immediately after a cell swap
The ThinkPad P52 EC stores charge history and cycle count in EEPROM on the battery pack itself. When a new cell goes in, the BIOS reads that EEPROM as blank or mismatched and flags it as degraded. This is not a fault with the replacement cell — it is the firmware comparing stored data against expected parameters and finding nothing. Running the battery learn cycle gives the EC fresh data to work from. After one full discharge-to-hibernate and uninterrupted charge to 100%, the health status in Lenovo Vantage updates correctly.
P52 shutting down at 20–30% charge shown on screen
This happens when the fuel gauge IC has not yet calibrated against the new cell's actual discharge curve. The P52 runs full CPU and Quadro GPU load simultaneously during CAD or rendering tasks, and the voltage drops faster under that draw than the uncalibrated gauge predicts. The system hits the EC's low-voltage cutoff before the displayed percentage reaches zero. Two to three full discharge and charge cycles let the fuel gauge IC map the new cell accurately — after that, the shutdown threshold should align with a displayed level below 5%.

Frequently Asked Questions
Lenovo Vantage is showing the new P52 battery as "Unknown" with 0% health — is the cell faulty?
The cell is not faulty. The ThinkPad P52 EC reads battery health data from EEPROM stored on the pack, and a new replacement cell has no prior cycle history written to it, so the firmware returns an unknown or degraded status. Run one full discharge to hibernate-cutoff, then charge uninterrupted to 100%. That single learn cycle writes the baseline data the EC needs, and Vantage will update the health reading correctly after reboot.
The P52 battery info screen shows the wrong Wh rating — it's displaying a lower number than the 88.92Wh spec on the replacement cell packaging.
The Wh value shown in Windows or Lenovo Vantage is pulled from the EEPROM "design capacity" field on the battery pack, not measured in real time. Some replacement cells ship with a conservative rated value written to EEPROM that sits below the actual tested capacity. The cell's real energy output is not affected by this display discrepancy. If you need to verify actual capacity, run a full discharge cycle and check the reported full charge capacity in HWiNFO64 — it updates the measured figure after each completed cycle.
The P52 charge is stopping at 80% and won't go higher — is something wrong with the replacement cell?
This is almost always the BIOS charge threshold setting, not a cell fault. Lenovo's firmware includes a battery charge limit feature that caps charging at 80% to reduce cell stress during long periods on AC power. Check Lenovo Vantage under Power → Battery Charge Threshold and confirm the upper limit is set to 100%. If Vantage is not installed, access the same setting in the BIOS under Config → Power. Once the threshold is cleared, plug in and the cell will charge to full.
